Hall measurements to 40 kilobars under hydrostatic pressure in a piston-cylinder device.

Rev Sci Instrum

Published: May 1979

A technique for Hall measurements under truly hydrostatic pressures to 40 kilobars is described. The method employs the piston-cylinder apparatus with a Teflon cell to contain a suitable fluid. The necessary magnetic field is generated by a coil placed inside the cell. Hall data can be obtained over the full pressure range, at temperatures from 150 to 300 K. Results for an Al(x)Ga(1-x)As sample are presented as an example.

Treatment of pediatric drug-resistant generalized epilepsy with responsive neurostimulation of the centromedian nucleus of the thalamus: A case series of seven patients.

Epilepsy Res

January 2025

Division of Pediatric Neurology, Department of Pediatrics, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, 8th Floor Faculty Pavilion, 4401 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15224, United States. Electronic address:

Purpose: Responsive neurostimulation of the centromedian nucleus of the thalamus (CM RNS) is being investigated for treatment of drug-resistant generalized epilepsy with promising results. The aim of this study is to report outcomes of seven patients with pediatric-onset drug-resistant generalized epilepsy, including both genetic generalized epilepsy (GGE) and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), who underwent treatment with bilateral CM RNS.

Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed for patients with drug-resistant generalized epilepsy who underwent treatment with bilateral CM RNS at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh from 2020 to 2022.

Validation and Analysis of Recreational Runners' Kinematics Obtained from a Sacral IMU.

Sensors (Basel)

January 2025

Sport and Physical Activity Research Centre, Sheffield Hallam University, Olympic Legacy Park, 2 Old Hall Rd, Sheffield S9 3TY, UK.

Our aim was to validate a sacral-mounted inertial measurement unit (IMU) for reconstructing running kinematics and comparing movement patterns within and between runners. IMU data were processed using Kalman and complementary filters separately. RMSE and Bland-Altman analysis assessed the validity of each filtering method against a motion capture system.

The study aimed to investigate the reliability, construct, and discriminant validity of the Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire 3 (BREQ-3) for evaluating motivational regulations and self-determination for exercise in Brazilian adults aged 50 years or older. The study assessed motivation for exercise, peripheral muscle strength, physical performance, functional capacity, cardiovascular fitness, and frailty phenotype. Two raters independently applied the BREQ-3.

Introduction And Objective: As thresholds for the diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) become lower, and the prevalence of obesity in society rises, more pregnant women will be diagnosed with GDM and hypertension. Both conditions hold dangers for mother and baby. Our objective was to properly describe this association.

Tracking biodiversity across biomes over space and time has emerged as an imperative in unified global efforts to manage our living planet for a sustainable future for humanity. We harness the National Ecological Observatory Network to develop routines using airborne spectroscopic imagery to predict multiple dimensions of plant biodiversity at continental scale across biomes in the US. Our findings show strong and positive associations between diversity metrics based on spectral species and ground-based plant species richness and other dimensions of plant diversity, whereas metrics based on distance matrices did not.
