Many methods of evaluating malnutrition have been proposed that combine multiple components such as dietary and medical history, amount of weight loss, biochemical variables, and anthropometry. The Subjective Global Assessment (SGA), first described by Baker et al in 1982, SGA was introduced to assess the patient for malnutrition at the bedside, without the need for precise body composition analysis. Since it was developed, the SGA has been used in various different patient populations, including surgical and oncology patients. It remains the most reliable and efficient method of nutrition assessment. The authors present a review of the SGA and how it has been used in a variety of areas within medicine.

Background: Bone fractures represent a global public health issue. Over the past few decades, a sustained increase in the number of incidents and prevalent cases have been reported, as well as in the years lived with disability. Current monitoring techniques predominantly rely on imaging methods, which can result in subjective assessments, and expose patients to unnecessary cumulative doses of radiation.

The present study examined the effects of a culturally adapted intervention, ¡Iniciando! la Adultez, on sleep and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Latino young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their Spanish-speaking parents. The intervention targeted the transition to adulthood, a period associated with increased challenges in sleep and HRQoL, particularly for underserved Latino populations. Participants included 26 young adults and 38 parents who completed assessments at baseline and post-treatment.

Objective: Delayed neurocognitive recovery, previously known as postoperative cognitive dysfunction, is a common complication affecting older adults after surgery. This study aims to address the knowledge gap in postoperative neurocognitive recovery by exploring the relationship between subjective experiences, performance-based measurements, and blood biomarkers.
Design: Mixed-methods study with a convergent parallel (QUAL+quan) design.

Background: The global burden of major depressive disorder (MDD) is rising, with current diagnostic methods hindered by significant subjectivity and low inter-rater reliability. Several studies have implied underlying link between coagulation-related proteins, such as kininogen (KNG) and coagulation factor VIII (FVIII), and depressive symptoms, offering new insights into the exploration of depression biomarkers. This study aims to elucidate the roles of KNG and FVIII in depression, potentially providing a foundational basis for biomarker research in this field.
