Introduction: Selective and non-selective cyclo-oxygenase (COX) inhibitors impair bone healing by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term effect of parecoxib, a selective COX-2 inhibitor, on bone healing in rats, when it is applied in a pattern similar to clinical treatment patterns, that is, in a high dose and for a short period after bone fracture.
Method: Closed non-displaced mid-diaphyseal fractures in the middle of the left femoral shaft were generated in each animal. In the study group, parecoxib sodium (1.06 mg/kg) was administered intra-peritoneally every day for 7 days. In the control group, normal saline was administered intra-peritoneally every day for 7 days. In both groups fracture healing (bone union and callus formation) was evaluated with X-rays 28 and 42 days after surgery.
Results: Bone healing was lower in the study group (60 vs. 80% in the control group 28 days after fracture and 80 vs. 90% 42 days after fracture) but this difference was not statistically significant (P > 0.05).
Conclusion: Parecoxib does not have a significant long-term effect on bone healing in rats, when it is administered in a high dose and for a short period after bone fracture.

Extracellular matrix (ECM) derived from mesenchymal stem cells regulates antioxidant properties and bone metabolism by providing a favorable extracellular microenvironment. However, its functional role and molecular mechanism in mitochondrial function regulation and aged bone regeneration remain insufficiently elucidated. This proteomic analysis has revealed a greater abundance of proteins supporting mitochondrial function in the young ECM (Y-ECM) secreted by young bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) compared to the aged ECM (A-ECM).

Objectives: To compare the clinical effectiveness of a novel bioceramic (BC) with a control xenograft (BO) for guided bone regeneration (GBR) performed simultaneously with implant placement.
Materials And Methods: This clinical study enrolled patients with insufficient bone volume who required GBR during implant placement to increase bone width using either BC or BO. Outcome measures included a dimensional reduction in buccal bone thickness measured by cone beam computed tomography performed immediately post-surgery and at 6 months postoperatively (ΔHBBT), soft tissue healing at 14 days, 1 month, and 6 months postoperatively, and complications rates.

Impaired bladder compliance secondary to congenital or acquired bladder dysfunction can lead to irreversible kidney damage. This is managed with surgical augmentation utilizing intestinal tissue, which can cause stone formation, infections, and malignant transformation. Co-seeded bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)/CD34+ hematopoietic stem cell (HSPC) scaffolds (PRS) have been successful in regenerating bladder tissue.

Objective: To investigate the alterations in the Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) and bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) levels and identify associated factors in older adults with delayed union of osteoporotic thoracolumbar spine fractures.
Methods: From June 2021 to June 2023, 139 elderly patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar spine fractures were selected and divided into a delayed group and a normal group according to the fracture healing status at 6 months postoperatively. GNRI and BMP-2 levels were assessed in both cohorts.
