The role of human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2) in male breast cancer (MBC) is poorly defined. A comprehensive description of HER2 status was conducted. A total of 6,015 MBC patients from 45 studies and 135 MBC patients with sequencing data were identified.

In this article, our goal is to offer an introduction and overview of the diagnostic approach to inherited platelet function defects (iPFDs) for clinicians and laboratory personnel who are beginning to engage in the field. We describe the most commonly used laboratory methods and propose a diagnostic four-step approach, wherein each stage requires a higher level of expertise and more specialized methods. It should be noted that our proposed approach differs from the ISTH Guidance on this topic in some points.

Creatinine is an essential biomarker for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of renal insufficiency. Although fluorescent methods are powerful tools for creatinine detection, almost all reported fluorescent probes rely on short-wavelength excitation and a single fluorescent signal, making them susceptible to environmental and operational conditions. In this study, a near-infrared excited, highly sensitive, and multi-output signal sensing system was established using upconversion nanoparticles and 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid (DNBA) for synergistic luminescent and colorimetric assay for strong visual detection of creatinine.

Influenza A virus (IAV) and influenza B virus (IBV) with similar symptoms of infection caused a serious disease burden and economic losses in annual epidemic season, so it is important to quickly and accurately detect and distinguish between IAV and IBV during influenza season. Herein, the quantum dot microspheres (QDMS) were synthesized and applied to lateral flow immunoassays (LFIA), and a point-of-care (POC) biosensor that can discriminately and simultaneously diagnose IAV and IBV within 10 min was established. A double-sandwich QDMS nanotags was synthesized by immobilizing hydrophobic quantum dots (QDs) with chemical bonding method on a silica sphere template with an outer silica shell protection showed excellent stability and high fluorescence.

Competitive fitness is a fundamental concept in evolutionary biology that captures the ability of organisms to survive, reproduce, and compete for resources in their environment. Competitive fitness is typically assessed in the lab by growing two or more competitors together and measuring the frequency of each at multiple time points. Traditional microbial competitive fitness assays are labor intensive and involve plating on solid medium and counting colonies.
