Purpose: The creation of supersaturation transiently after application overcomes the issue of drug instability. However, if the solvents used to drive supersaturation evaporate too quickly, drug recrystallisation or rapid film drying can occur which will inhibit drug release. As such the effects of a residual solvent, poly(ethylene glycol) 400 (PEG), on the release, mobility and supersaturation kinetics of a transiently supersaturated formulation were studied.
Materials And Methods: Metered dose aerosol (MDA) formulations consisting of hydrofluoroalkane 134a, ethanol, poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) K90, beclomethasone dipropionate (BDP), and 0%, 5% or 10% w/w PEG were prepared in canisters sealed with metered dose valves and tested for release and adhesion over time.
Results: The addition of 10% PEG to the MDA formulation resulted in a significant reduction (p < 0.05) in steady state drug release rate (230.4 +/- 17.3 microg/cm(2)/h for 0% PEG MDA, 83.6 +/- 4.9 microg/cm(2)/h for 10% PEG MDA). The presence of PEG caused a delay in dose depletion (2 h for 0% PEG MDA versus 4 h for 10% PEG), retarded supersaturation kinetics and increased film drying time.
Conclusion: Whilst equivalent amounts of BDP were released, the residual solvent altered the drug release profile to achieve more constant delivery.

Background: The COBRA-like (COBL) gene family is a crucial glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored proteins that participate in various biological processes in plants by regulating the arrangement of cell wall microfibrils. While the functions of COBL genes have been analyzed in several plant species, their roles in cotton's response to abiotic stress remain unexplored.
Results: This study identified and characterized the COBL gene family in Gossypium hirsutum, revealing a total of 39 COBL family members classified into five subgroups.

This study aimed to determine the effects of novel N-{3-[(pyridin-4-yl)carbamoyl] phenyl} thiophene-2-carboxamide or PCPTC chemical moiety loaded Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)-Poly (Ethylene glycol) or (PLGA-PEGylated) NP as an anti-metastatic Ran GTPase therapeutic agent on MDA-MB231 triple-negative human breast cancer cells. Molecular docking and MD simulation was done to determine the binding potential of novel carboxamide PCPTC with Ran GTPase. PLGA and PLGA-PEG based NP encapsulating PCPTC were fabricated using the Modified Double Emulsion Solvent Evaporation Technique and characterized for size, zeta potential, polydispersity and morphology.

Carbon dot (CD)-based theranostics offers a promising approach for breast cancer (BC) treatment, integrating ultra-localized chemo-photothermal effects to address chemoresistance and enhance therapeutic control. Herein, the development of a targeted theranostic nanosystem for the chemo-phototherapy of breast cancer is described. Fluorescent and biocompatible CDs were passivated with 1,2-bis(3-aminopropylamino)ethane (bAPAE) and decorated with the targeting agent folic acid (FA) through conjugation with a PEG spacer.

Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) encapsulated in amphiphilic block copolymers are a promising system for numerous biomedical applications, although critical information on the effects of various preparation variables on the structure and properties of this unique type of nanomaterial is currently missing from the literature. In this research, we synthesized GNPs functionalized with thiol-terminated polycaprolactone (PCL-GNPs) before encapsulating them into poly(ε-caprolactone)--poly(ethylene glycol) (PCL--PEG) micellar nanoparticles via nanoprecipitation to yield GNP-loaded polymeric nanoparticles (GNP-PNPs). We explored the role of different manufacturing variables (water volume, PCL--PEG to PCL-GNP ratio, and PEG block length) on the sizes, morphologies, GNP occupancies, colloidal gold concentrations, and time stability of GNP-PNPs.
