A patient-centred clinical teaching profile in the undergraduate dental curriculum at The University of Tromsø is described. This teaching profile implies that treatment planning is primarily based on the patients' perceived needs and the students are trained to retrieve information from the patients in this context. The role of the clinical instructor is primarily as a facilitator rather than an expert. The 'best interest of the patient' is not always easy to disclose and consequences related to the patients' levels of understanding, students competence, educational challenges and professional ethics are topics for discussion through the clinical education programme.

Importance: While guidelines recommend bedtime snacks for women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), there is insufficient evidence championed those recommendation.
Objective: To evaluate if bedtime snacking is effective in preventing high fasting blood glucose incidence among women with GDM.
Design: An open-label, parallel-group, randomized controlled trial was conducted from December 2023 to July 2024 at Ma'anshan Maternal and Child Health Care Center, Anhui, China.

Specific information about the dispersion of Culex quinquefasciatus from Dschang in western Cameroon is scarce, and evidence-based interventions are needed. Common use of larvicides and adulticides conduct to the development of vectors resistance which can lead to deep biological changes, including fitness costs. We assessed the profile of insecticide resistance in field populations of Cx.

The aberrant function of lymphocytes is considered a significant contributing factor to pure red cell aplasia (PRCA), but the precise mechanism by which T lymphocytes induce erythroid development stagnation remains unclear. In our study, the CD8 T lymphocytes were isolated from bone marrow aspirates of acquired PRCA patients and healthy controls. RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) was performed to analyze gene expression profiles.

The massive amount of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO-1) in tumor cells and tumor-associated immune cells forms a feedback loop that maintains immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (ITM) and causes immune escape, resulting in the poor prognosis of platinum chemotherapeutics. However, the effective systemic administration of platinum drugs and IDO-1 inhibitors is strictly limited by their distinct chemical construction, different pharmacokinetic profiles, and heterogeneous distributions. Herein, a novel supramolecular method with the capability to modulate tumor microenvironment is proposed aiming at potentiating the antitumor efficacy of chemoimmunotherapy.

Metasurfaces, consisting of subwavelength-thickness units with different wave responses, provide an innovative possible method to manipulate elastic and acoustic waves efficiently. The application of metasurfaces to manipulate on-chip surface acoustic wave (SAW) at sub-GHz frequencies requires further exploration since their wave functions are highly demanded in nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS), sensing, communications, microfluid control and quantum processing. Here, the experimental realization of on-chip SAW metasurfaces is reported, consisting of gradient submicron niobium (Nb) rectangular pillars positioned on a 128°Y-cut lithium niobate (LiNbO) substrate that operate at hundreds of megahertz.
