A convenient, versatile, and regiospecific synthesis of functionalized 1,3-diarylisobenzofurans has been developed. It involves chemoselective addition of arylmagnesium reagents to the aldehyde function of o-aroylbenzaldehydes, themselves readily obtained by lead tetraacetate oxidation of N-aroylhydrazones of salicylaldehydes. Various functional groups, including nitro, iodo, or ester functionalities, have thus been positioned with complete regiospecificity on the 1,3-diphenylisobenzofuran backbone.

In this study, we propose a continuous assay that provides a high-throughput, efficient method for screening the regioselectivity of lipases at the sn-1,3 and sn-2 positions on triacylglycerols (TAGs). This assay measures the specific hydrolysis rates at the primary and secondary positions of TAGs derivates containing oleic (O) and punicic (P) acids. The method is based on the absorbance ratio of released punicic acid from the hydrolysis of sn-POP (sn-1,3 regiospecific lipases) and sn-OPO (sn-2 regiospecific lipases).

Aza-[4 + 2]-cycloaddition of benzocyclobutenones into isoquinolinone derivatives enabled by photoinduced regio-specific C-C bond cleavage.

The activation of C-C bond of benzocyclobutenones under mild reaction conditions remains a challenge. We herein report a photoinduced catalyst-free regio-specific C1-C8 bond cleavage of benzocyclobutenones, enabling the generation of versatile ortho-quinoid ketene methides for aza-[4 + 2]-cycloaddition with imines, which offers a facile route to isoquinolinone derivatives, including seven family members of protoberberine alkaloids, gusanlung A, B, D, 8-oxotetrahydroplamatine, tetrahydrothalifendine, tetrahydropalmatine, and xylopinine. Furthermore, the catalytic enantioselective version of this strategy is also realized by merging synergistic photocatalysis and chiral Lewis acid catalysis.

Enzymatic malonylation of natural glycosides provides a promising alternative method for drug-like malonylated glycosides supply. However, the catalytic potential and structural basis of plant malonyltransferase are far from being fully elucidated. This work identified a new malonyltransferase CtMaT1 from It displayed unprecedented mono- and/or di-malonylation activity toward diverse glucosides with different aglycons.

Article Synopsis
  • - Cross-linked β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) polymers serve as effective adsorbents for removing harmful per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water sources, showcasing their potential in treating contaminated environments.
  • - The study evaluates 20 different StyDex polymer variations with different comonomer structures and configurations, identifying one with dimethylbutyl ammonium ions as the best performer for PFAS adsorption in batch tests.
  • - The research highlights that the arrangement of styrene groups on β-CD monomers did not significantly affect performance, suggesting a simpler preparation method that maintains effectiveness, paving the way for cost-efficient adsorbent development.

Introduction: Pyrazolo-quinolinones (PQs) are a versatile class of Organic chemistry and it was found that they have very advanced functionally promising as selective compounds due to their scaffold and demonstrated low toxicity and considerable clinical promise. Moreover, these compounds have an important role in different applications such as analytical reagents, technical, pharmaceutical development, and biological markers. So, we aimed to synthesize and characterize new 4-(Het)aryl-substituted Pyrazole-quinolinones.
