The aim of this study was to investigate the rheological properties, molecular mobility and crystallization tendency of pure citric acid and paracetamol or blends of them. Amorphous samples were produced by ethanol-evaporation or by melt-quenching. Enthalpy recovery, glass fragility and heat capacity were determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Other physical characterization methods were rheology and the crystallization tendency using X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) and DSC. All the samples behaved as Newtonian liquids and they were fragile glasses. The 50/50 (w/w,%) blend had good physical stability upon consecutive shearing regardless of the preparation method. All the samples were stable for at least one year in dry conditions at -20 degrees C. The melt-produced blends containing 25% or 50% paracetamol were stable at least two years in dry ambient conditions. The good physical stability at ambient temperature cannot be explained by molecular mobility because molecular mobility of the model material is less than 100 s in ambient conditions. Thus other factors, such as the thermodynamic and crystallization driving forces or formation of degradation products, must determine the physical stability of the blends. The composition and processing method have an impact on the physical stability of the sample.

Recent advances in molecular science have significantly enlightened our mechanistic understanding of spinocerebellar ataxia type 7. To further close remaining gaps, we performed a multi-omics analysis using SCA7 mice. Entire brain tissue samples were collected from 12-week-old mice, and RNA sequencing, methylation analysis, and proteomic analysis were performed.

Introduction: This study aimed to understand the origin and to explain the maintenance of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) isolated from food-producing animals in a third-generation cephalosporin (3GC)-free farm.
Methods: Culture and molecular approaches were used to test molecules other than 3GC such as antibiotics (tetracycline and oxytetracycline), antiparasitics (ivermectin, flumethrin, fenbendazol, and amitraz), heavy metal [arsenic, HNO, aluminum, HNO, cadmium (CdSO), zinc (ZnCl), copper (CuSO), iron (FeCl), and aluminum (AlSO)], and antioxidant (butylated hydroxytoluene) as sources of selective pressure. Whole-genome sequencing using short read (Illumina™) and long read (Nanopore™) technologies was performed on 34 genomes.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a lethal, muscle-wasting, genetic disease that is greatly amplified by an immune response to the diseased muscles. The mdx mouse model of DMD was used to test whether the pathology can be reduced by treatments with a CTLA4-Ig fusion protein that blocks costimulatory signals required for activation of T-cells. CTLA4-Ig treatments reduced mdx sarcolemma lesions and reduced the numbers of activated T-cells, macrophages and antigen presenting cells in mdx muscle and reduced macrophage invasion into muscle fibers.

Glucanases are widely applied in industrial applications such as brewing, biomass conversion, food, and animal feed. Glucanases catalyze the hydrolysis of glucan to produce the sugar hemiacetal through hydrolytic cleavage of glycosidic bonds. Current study aimed to investigate structural insights of a glucanase from Clostridium perfringens through blind molecular docking, site-specific molecular docking, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, and binding energy calculation.

It is widely believed that the aggregation of amyloid β (Aβ) peptides into soluble oligomers is the root cause behind Alzheimer's disease. In this study, we have performed room-temperature molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of aggregated Aβ oligomers of different sizes (pentamer (O(5)), decamer (O(10)), and hexadecamer (O(16))) in binary aqueous solutions containing 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([BMIM][BF]) ionic liquid (IL). Investigations have been carried out to obtain a microscopic understanding of the effects of the IL on the dynamic environment around the exterior surfaces and within the confined nanocores of the oligomers.
