Pickering emulsion stabilized by food grade nanoparticles with stimulus response as a targeted delivery system for lipophilic bioactive compounds has attracted people's attention. In this study, ferulic acid was used to modify saccharified zein to prepare pH-sensitive nanoparticles for stabilizing Pickering emulsion. The structure, interface behavior, stability of Pickering emulsion and gastrointestinal digestion characteristics of nanoparticles in vitro were studied.

Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are a diverse group of peptides, typically composed of 4 to 40 amino acids, known for their unique ability to transport a wide range of substances-such as small molecules, plasmid DNA, small interfering RNA, proteins, viruses, and nanoparticles-across cellular membranes while preserving the integrity of the cargo. CPPs exhibit passive and non-selective behavior, often requiring functionalization or chemical modification to enhance their specificity and efficacy. The precise mechanisms governing the cellular uptake of CPPs remain ambiguous; however, electrostatic interactions between positively charged amino acids and negatively charged glycosaminoglycans on the membrane, particularly heparan sulfate proteoglycans, are considered the initial crucial step for CPP uptake.

The NLRP3 inflammasome, plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) by activating inflammatory cytokines such as IL1β and IL18. Targeting NLRP3 has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy for RA. In this study, a multidisciplinary approach combining machine learning, quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) modeling, structure-activity landscape index (SALI), docking, molecular dynamics (MD), and molecular mechanics Poisson-Boltzmann surface area MM/PBSA assays was employed to identify novel NLRP3 inhibitors.

A pyrene-derived fluorescent probe (P4CG) was designed and synthesized for the purpose of detecting protamine and trypsin activity. The anionic probe self-assembled with protamine, driven by electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions, exhibiting a sensing behavior towards protamine in a fluorescence ratiometric manner. The assay demonstrated high sensitivity, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 13.

The recent discovery of ferroelectric nematic liquid crystalline phases marks a major breakthrough in soft matter research. An intermediate phase, often observed between the nonpolar and the ferroelectric nematic phase, shows a distinct antiferroelectric response to electric fields. However, its structure and formation mechanisms remain debated, with flexoelectric and electrostatics effects proposed as competing mechanisms.
