Published: October 2007

Phenazepam in ultralow doses significantly potentiated anxiolytic and anticonvulsant effects of therapeutic doses of the same drug both after preliminary or simultaneous administration, which attests to bipathic action of phenazepam. The combination of ultralow and therapeutic doses of phenazepam prevented the development of its specific myorelaxant and sedative side effects.

Objectives: Copaiba essential oil (CEO) is obtained through the distillation of copaiba balsam and has been used in the traditional medicine to treat inflammatory conditions. However, the highly lipophilic nature of CEO restricts its pharmaceutical use. This study evaluated the effect of CEO, carried in a self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (SNEDDS), on articular and systemic inflammation and liver changes in Holtzman rats with Freund's adjuvant-induced arthritis.

Coronaviruses (CoV) emerge suddenly from animal reservoirs to cause novel diseases in new hosts. Discovered in 2012, the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is endemic in camels in the Middle East and is continually causing local outbreaks and epidemics. While all three newly emerging human CoVs from the past 20 years (SARS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2, and MERS-CoV) cause respiratory disease, each CoV has unique host interactions that drive differential pathogeneses.

Lynch syndrome is the most common hereditary cancer predisposition, accounting for 1-5% of colorectal cancer cases, and is driven by germline mutations in DNA mismatch repair genes. Despite established diagnostic criteria, such as the Amsterdam guidelines, Lynch syndrome remains largely underdiagnosed. To address this gap, universal tumour screening has been introduced for all newly diagnosed cases of colorectal cancer and endometrial cancer, significantly improving early detection.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of faricimab in real-world clinical settings in India for treating diabetic macular edema (DME) in treatment-naïve and recalcitrant eyes.

Patients And Methods: This retrospective study involved 39 eyes (16 treatment-naive and 23 recalcitrant) treated with intravitreal faricimab at four centers in India. Patients received three monthly loading doses followed by a pro-re-nata regimen, with outcomes measured for best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central macular thickness (CMT), intraretinal fluid (IRF), subretinal fluid (SRF), and hyperreflective foci (HRF).

Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC), including pre-conditioning (RIPC, before the ischemic event), per-conditioning (RIPerC, during the ischemic event), and post-conditioning (RIPostC, after the ischemic event), protects the liver in animal hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injuries models. However, several questions regarding the optimal timing of intervention and administration protocols remain unanswered. Therefore, the preclinical evidence on RIC in the HIRI models was systematically reviewed and meta-analyzed in the present review to provide constructive and helpful information for future works.
