Introduction: Non-traumatic abdominal pain is a common emergency presentation frequently managed by general surgeons. Abdominopelvic computed tomography (CT) scans are the most popular imaging modality in this context. In many hospitals, the rising demand for urgent and emergent scans out-of-hours has necessitated the outsourcing of this service to teleradiology companies, whereby reports are generated at sites remote from the image acquisition.

Background And Aims: Teleradiology is the practice of interpreting medical images acquired in an off-site location. Teleradiology has been utilized widely around the world to address the needs for subspecialty coverage, workload balancing, and as a solution for understaffing. This study aims to assess the perceptions of teleradiology among radiologists in Saudi Arabia, investigate any challenges they might face, and explore strategies that would help mitigate those challenges.

Background: Remote reporting is an important preventive measure against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for radiology departments; it reduces the chance of cross-infections between coworkers. The purpose of this study was to evaluate how the preferred locations that radiologists filed reports from changed in response to COVID-19 by measuring the use of internal teleradiology workstations.
Methods: Data were obtained from the radiological information system (RIS) database at our institution, which recorded the reporting workstation for each radiological examination.

Objective: Smartphones have the ability to capture and send images, and their use has become common in the emergency setting for transmitting radiographic images with the intent to consult an off-site specialist. Our objective was to evaluate the reliability of smartphone-based instant messaging applications for the evaluation of various pediatric limb traumas, as compared with the standard method of viewing images of a workstation-based picture archiving and communication system (PACS).
Methods: X-ray images of 73 representative cases of pediatric limb trauma were captured and transmitted to 5 pediatric orthopedic surgeons by the Whatsapp instant messaging application on an iPhone 6 smartphone.
