Purpose: Proton beam therapy (PBT) plays an important role in the management of primary spine tumors. The purpose of this consensus statement was to summarize safe and optimal delivery of PBT for spinal tumors.
Methods And Materials: The Particle Therapy Cooperative Group Skull Base/Central nervous system/Sarcoma Subcommittee consisting of radiation oncologists and medical physicists with specific expertise in spinal irradiation developed expert recommendations discussing treatment planning considerations and current approaches in the treatment of primary spinal tumors.

An excellent radiation therapy plan relies heavily on an outstanding dose distribution map, which is traditionally generated through repeated trials and adjustments by experienced physicists. To estimate object properties such as mass or friction, our brain relies on visual information to efficiently compute approximations. The role of sensorimotor feedback, however, is not well understood. Here we tested healthy adults ( = 79) in an inclined-plane problem, that is, how much a plane can be tilted before an object starts to slide, and contrasted the interaction group with observation groups who accessed involved forces by watching objects being manipulated.

The professional impacted by this increase of demands are radiation oncologists and medical physicists.
