Influence of Lys656Asn polymorphism of leptin receptor gene on insulin resistance in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2.

Diabetes Res Clin Pract

Institute of Endocrinology and Nutrition, Medicine School and Unit of Investigation, Hospital Rio Hortega, University of Valladolid, Valladolid, Spain.

Published: September 2008

This is a descriptive study in diabetic patients. Mutant type patient (39%) (Lys656/Asn656 or Asn656/Asn656) group had higher fat mass, HOMA, CRP and leptin than wild type. Adiponectin levels were lower in mutant type group than wild type (61%) (Lys656/Lys656).

Low-exhaustion peripheral circulating γδ T cells serve as a biomarker for predicting the clinical benefit rate of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients to chemotherapy or targeted therapy: a single-center retrospective study.

BMC Cancer

January 2025

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Tumor Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment, Zhuhai Institute of Translational Medicine, Zhuhai People's Hospital Affiliated with Jinan University, Jinan University, Zhuhai, China.

Background: Multiple studies have demonstrated that the abundance and functionality of γδ T cells are favorable prognostic indicators for prolonged survival in cancer patients. However, the association between the immunophenotype of circulating γδ T cells and the therapeutic response in NSCLC patients undergoing chemotherapy or targeted therapy remains unclear.

Methods: Patients with EGFR wild-type (EGFR-WT) or mutant (EGFR-Mut) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), diagnosed between January 2020 and January 2024, were included in this study.

Background: The clinical manifestations of PI4KA-related disorders are characterized by considerable variability, predominantly featuring neurological impairments, gastrointestinal symptoms, and a combined immunodeficiency. The aim of this study was to delineate the novel spectrum of PI4KA variants detected prenatally and to assess their influence on fetal development.

Methods: A thorough fetal ultrasound screening was conducted, supplemented by both antenatal and post-abortion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies.

Virtual staining from bright-field microscopy for label-free quantitative analysis of plant cell structures.

Plant Mol Biol

January 2025

Graduate School of Science and Technology, Kumamoto University, 2-39-1 Kurokami, Chuo-Ku, Kumamoto, 860-8555, Japan.

The applicability of a deep learning model for the virtual staining of plant cell structures using bright-field microscopy was investigated. The training dataset consisted of microscopy images of tobacco BY-2 cells with the plasma membrane stained with the fluorescent dye PlasMem Bright Green and the cell nucleus labeled with Histone-red fluorescent protein. The trained models successfully detected the expansion of cell nuclei upon aphidicolin treatment and a decrease in the cell aspect ratio upon propyzamide treatment, demonstrating its utility in cell morphometry.

The hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG) is thought to orthogonalize inputs from the entorhinal cortex (pattern separation) and relay this information to the CA3 region. In turn, attractor dynamics in CA3 perform a pattern completion or error correction operation before sending its output to CA1. In a mouse model of congenital hypoplasia of the DG, a deficiency in the (Wls) gene, specifically in cells expressing , which targets neuronal progenitors, led to an almost total absence of dentate granule cells and modestly impaired performance in spatial tasks.
