Background: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) potentiate serotonergic neurotransmission by blocking the serotonin transporter (5-HTT), but the functional brain response to SSRIs involves neural circuits beyond regions with high 5-HTT expression. Currently, it is unclear whether and how changes in 5-HTT availability after SSRI administration modulate brain function of key serotoninergic circuits, including those characterized by high availability of the serotonin 1A receptor (5-HT1AR).

Aim: We investigated the association between 5-HTT availability and 5-HTT- and 5-HT1AR-enriched functional connectivity (FC) after an acute citalopram challenge.

Cyclosporin A up-regulated thromboxane A receptor through activation of MAPK and NF-κB pathways in rat mesenteric artery.

Eur J Pharmacol

July 2022

Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Ischemic Cardiovascular Disease, Institute of Basic and Translational Medicine, Xi'an Medical University, Xi'an, China. Electronic address:

Cyclosporin A (CsA) is an immunosuppressant used in transplantation patients and inflammatory diseases. CsA-induced local vasoconstriction can lead to serious side effects including nephrotoxicity and hypertension. However, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood.

The E3 ubiquitin ligase WWP2 facilitates RUNX2 protein transactivation in a mono-ubiquitination manner during osteogenic differentiation.

J Biol Chem

July 2017

From the Key Laboratory of Metabolism and Molecular Medicine, Ministry of Education, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Fudan University, Shanghai 200032, China

Poly-ubiquitination-mediated RUNX2 degradation is an important cause of age- and inflammation-related bone loss. NEDD4 family E3 ubiquitin protein ligases are thought to be the major regulators of RUNX2 poly-ubiquitination. However, we observed a mono-ubiquitination of RUNX2 that was catalyzed by WWP2, a member of the NEDD4 family of E3 ubiquitin ligases.

Background/aims: Evidence suggests that IL-6 affects bone mass by modulating osteocyte communication towards osteoclasts. However, the mechanism by which IL-6 enhances osteocyte-mediated osteoclastogenesis is unclear. We aimed to investigate the inflammatory factors in serum after orthodontic surgery and their relationship between osteocytes and osteoclasts.

Knockdown of the NHR-8 nuclear receptor enhanced sensitivity to the lipid-reducing activity of alkaloids in Caenorhabditis elegans.

Biosci Biotechnol Biochem

July 2015

a Department of Plant Gene and Totipotency , Graduate School of Biostudies, Kyoto University, Kyoto , Japan.

Caenorhabditis elegans is a versatile, whole-organism model for bioactivity screening. However, this worm has extensive defensive mechanisms against xenobiotics which limit its use for screening of pharmacologically active compounds. In this study, we report that knockdown of nhr-8, a gene involved in the xenobiotic response, increased the worm's sensitivity to the lipid-reducing effects of some isoquinoline alkaloids, especially berberine.
