Phthalate esters, particularly di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), are widely used plasticizers found in various consumer products, posing significant environmental and health risks due to their endocrine-disrupting effects. In this study, a novel enzyme-free intra-capacitive biofuel cell self-powered sensor (ICBFC-SPS) was developed. The ICBFC-SPS integrated a ternary heterostructure-based capacitive anode and a cathode with a sensing interface into a single-chamber electrolytic cell.

The increasing global population and urbanization have led to significant challenges in waste management, particularly concerning vacuum blackwater (VBW), which is the wastewater generated from vacuum toilets. Traditional treatment methods, such as landfilling and composting, often fall short in terms of efficiency and sustainability. Anaerobic digestion (AD) has emerged as a promising alternative, offering benefits such as biogas production and digestate generation.

With the rapid development of synthetic biology, genetic engineering, and molecular manipulation methods in recent years, microalgae, as representatives of microbial cell factories, have been widely used as hosts in the production of high-value bioproducts, such as oils, pigments, proteins, and biofuels, demonstrating promising prospects of application in biochemical energy, food and drugs, and environmental protection. Despite these advancements, the low production efficiency of microalgae limits their industrial application. In addition to strain improvement and culture condition optimization, the regulation by exogenous chemical additives serves as a promising optimization strategy.

In this study, the effect of additives on particulate matter (PM) and flue gas emissions during the co-combustion of poultry waste and pine woodchips in air and oxy-fuel combustion conditions was examined. The appropriate additive for the fuel mixture to reduce PM emissions has been selected by a fast screening method based on thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) in oxygen environment. Among the additives CaHPO, MgCO, MnCO, MgPO, kaolin, CaO, and Zn, the most suitable ones were determined as Zn and MgCO.

Enhanced environmental stress tolerance is important for microbial production of biofuels and biobased chemicals. However, the roles of chromatin regulation in stress tolerance and bioproduction remain unclear. Here, we explore the effects of Ino80, the core subunit of the INO80 chromatin remodeling complex, on yeast stress adaptation.
