A commercially available 4.6 mm id x 50 mm polymethacrylate-based monolithic strong anion exchange column (ProSwift SAX-1S) designed for the separation of proteins has been successfully used to separate small inorganic anions in the presence of a seawater sample matrix. Using a hydroxide eluent with suppressed conductivity detection the ion exchange capacity of this column declined over time; however, using KCl as the eluent, the column performance was stable with a capacity of 530 microequiv. for nitrate. The optimum conditions for the separation of iodate, bromate, nitrite, bromide and nitrate were assessed by constructing van Deemter plots using 1.00 and 0.100 M KCl. Efficiencies of up to 26 700 plates/m were recorded using 1.00 M KCl, at a flow rate of 0.20 mL/min but iodate was not baseline resolved from the void peak. By reducing the concentration of the eluent to 0.100 M, efficiencies of up to 39 900 plates/m could be obtained at 0.35 mL/min. By employing a linear gradient ranging from 0.05 to 1.00 M KCl the ions dissolved in distilled water or a salt water matrix could be baseline separated in less than 3 min at a flow rate of 2.50 mL/min.

Interaction of a novel dihydroxy dibenzoazacrown (HDTC) with various surfactants of different charges, for example, anionic (sodium dodecylsulfate, SDS), cationic (dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide, DTAB), cationic gemini (butanediyl-1,4-bis(dimethylcetylammonium bromide), 16-4-16), ionic liquid (1-hexadecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, CMImCl), and nonionic (polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate, Tween-60), has been investigated at a widespread range of surfactant concentrations (including premicellar, micellar, and postmicellar regime) in 15% (v/v) EtOH medium at room temperature. Several experimental techniques, viz., tensiometry, UV-vis spectroscopy, and steady-state fluorimetry, are implemented to explicate these interactions.

A downstream process for the recovery and purification of acetic acid (AA) from an extremely diluted solution (100 mg L) also containing a mixture of contaminating inorganic salts in the form of bicarbonates, phosphates, sulfates and chlorides (DPM medium) has been developed, showing its technical feasibility. The process involves two successive steps based on the use of a mixed bed ion exchange (IEX) resin. The first step, a demineralization treatment to remove the inorganic anions that could potentially interfere with the recovery and purification of AA, involves a combined treatment of calcium precipitation, acidification with the Amberlite IR-120 resin and treatment with the Amberlite MB20 mixed bed resin.

Four dual-responsive probe molecules 1,5-bis(thiophene-2-carbaldehyde)carbohydrazone (R1), 1,5-bis(thiophene-2-carbaldehyde)thiocarbohydrazone (R2), 1,5-bis(indole-3-carbaldehyde)carbohydrazone (R3), and 1,5-bis(indole-3-carbaldehyde)thiocarbohydrazone (R4) were synthesized, characterized, and investigated for their sensing efficacy. The initial sensing behavior of the probes was tested by colorimetric signaling, followed by spectral and theoretical techniques, which supported the dual-sensing ability of the selected inorganic ions. The probes exhibited highly selective optical recognition for Cu/Fe cations and F/ClO anions compared to the tested cations and anions.

Although various mechanisms of carbapenem-resistance have been identified in the nosocomial pathogen , the critical process of resistance evolution and the factors involved in are not well understood. Herein, we identified a universal stress protein Usp1413 which played an important role in adaptive resistance of to meropenem (MEM). Based on RNA-Seq and genome sequencing, Usp1413 was not only one of the most downregulated USPs, but also the bare one having mutation of tyrosine and glycine inserted at the site of 229-230 (YG229-230) under the stimulation of MEM.

Background: Synthesis of organic@inorganic hNFs is achieved by the coordination of organic compounds containing amine, amide, and diol groups with bivalent metals. The use of bio-extracts containing these functional groups instead of expensive organic inputs such as DNA, enzymes, and protein creates advantages in terms of cost and applicability. In this study, the application potentials (antioxidant, antibacterial, anticancer, guaiacol, anionic, and cationic dye degradation) of hybrid (organic@inorganic) nanoflowers (hNFs) synthesized with Cu and snakeskin (SSS) were proposed.
