Published: July 2008

Aim: To explore the effect of yupingfengsan on the growth of tumor and immunological function in tumor-bearing mice.

Methods: The models of tumor-bearing mice were established by inoculating the healthy mice with S180 tumor carneus cells cultured in vitro. Then the ratio of tumor restriction was calculated. The phagocytosis activity of phagocytes, the level of NO secreted by phagocytes, the proliferating activity of T lymphocytes and the level of IL-2 were detected in the mice after being treated with yupingfengsan 12 days.

Results: yupingfengsan elevated the phagocytosis of phagocytes and the level of NO secreted by phagocytes. It promoted T lymphocytes to transform, and increased the level of IL-2 and the activity of NK cells.

Conclusion: yupingfengsan can increase the immunological function of tumor-bearing mice and suppress the development of tumor in mice.

Prolactin in sleep and EEG regulation: new mechanisms and sleep-related brain targets complement classical data.

Neurosci Biobehav Rev

January 2025

Laboratory of Molecular and Systems Neurobiology, Department of Physiology and Neurobiology, Eötvös Loránd University.

The role of prolactin in sleep regulation has been the subject of extensive research over the past 50 years, resulting in the identification of multiple, disparate functions for the hormone. Prolactin demonstrated a characteristic circadian release pattern with elevation during dark and diminution during light. High prolactin levels were linked to non-rapid eye movement sleep and electroencephalogram delta activity in humans.

This objective of this experiment was to compare and evaluate the performance, egg quality, and immune function of Tianfu green shell laying hens with varying feather growth rates, in order to provide a reference for their rational utilization. A total of 120 one-day-old healthy Tianfu green shell laying hens were classified into the early-feathering (EF) and late-feathering (LF) groups through phenotypic identification of feather length and qPCR molecular identification. Each group was subdivided into four replicates, with 30 chickens in each replicate.

Background: Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) help to assess disease control and quality of life (QoL) in chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and recurrent angioedema (RA). This study aimed to assess the correlation between two different concepts: disease control and QoL, using disease-specific PROMs.

Methods: We analyzed data from 445 CSU and 330 RA patients who completed both a disease control and QoL PROM as part of the clinical routine.

Multiomic characterization, immunological and prognostic potential of SMAD3 in pan-cancer and validation in LIHC.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Jiangxi Key Laboratory of Molecular Medicine, Jiangxi Medical College, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, Nanchang University, Nanchang, 330006, China.

SMAD3, a protein-coding gene, assumes a pivotal role within the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) signaling pathway. Notably, aberrant SMAD3 expression has been linked to various malignancies. Nevertheless, an extensive examination of the comprehensive pan-cancer impact on SMAD3's diagnostic, prognostic, and immunological predictive utility has yet to be undertaken.
