Published: October 2008

The objective of the study was to analyze the process of therapeutic communication as developed by nurses who work in hospital units according to Peplau's theory. It is a descriptive-exploratory research accomplished in the period of October and November of 2006, of the Municipal district of Fortaleza, CE, Brazil in october and november, 2006. The participants of the study were 14 patients and 12 nurses, through a a semi-structured interview. Data were organized in thematic and discussed with literature review. Results demonstrated that since admission to hospital discharge, there is communication and interaction with a interpersonal relationship. Several times, however, that communication does not occur as it was supposed to, because nurse in her work does not priorize the visit to patients in her daily activities. Patients have difficulties to distinguish nurses from other health care professionals, which difficults the approach and development of therapeutic communication.

Centro Internacional de Equidade em Saúde, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Epidemiologia, Universidade Federal de Pelotas. R. Marechal Deodoro 1160, Centro. 96020-220 Pelotas RS Brasil.

We investigated the timely initiation of antenatal care among Brazilian adolescents to support the national discussion on the gestational age limit for legal abortion. Using data from the Live Births Information System (SINASC) 2020-2022, we correlated the timely antenatal care (first quarter of pregnancy) with the adolescent's age, region, ethnicity/skin color, and schooling level; 11,607 annual births result from vulnerable rape. The timely initiation of antenatal care was 70.

Accurate metacognitive judgments about an individual's performance in a mental task require the brain to have access to representations of the quality and difficulty of first-order cognitive processes. However, little is known about how accurate metacognitive judgments are implemented in the brain. Here, we combine brain stimulation with functional neuroimaging to determine the neural and psychological mechanisms underlying the frontopolar cortex's (FPC) role in metacognition.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nano-sized membranous particles that are secreted by various cell types and play a critical role in intercellular communication. Their unique properties and remarkable ability to deliver bioactive cargo to target cells have made them promising tools in the treatment of various diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD). AD is a devastating neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive cognitive decline and neuropathological hallmarks, such as amyloid-beta plaques and neurofibrillary tangles.

Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) represents a major global health challenge, marked by chronic hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, and immune system dysfunction. Immune cells, including T cells and monocytes, play a pivotal role in driving systemic inflammation in T2DM; however, the underlying single-cell mechanisms remain inadequately defined.

Methods: Single-cell RNA sequencing of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from 37 patients with T2DM and 11 healthy controls (HC) was conducted.
