Isolation and identification of pigeon adenovirus 1 and analysis of its pathogenicity in pigeons and chickens.

Microb Pathog

January 2025

College of Animal Science and Technology, Shandong Agricultural University, 61 Daizong Street, Tai'an, Shandong Province, 271018, China; Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Animal Biotechnology and Disease Control and Prevention, Tai'an, Shandong, 271018, China; Shandong Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center of Animal Disease Control and Prevention, Tai'an, Shandong, 271018, China. Electronic address:

Pigeon adenovirus type 1 predominantly infects pigeons under 12 months of age (mainly 3-5 months old), causing major clinical symptoms such as vomiting, dehydration, and discharge of thin yellow feces. In February 2023, an outbreak of a pathogen with symptoms similar to pigeon adenovirus infections occurred on a pigeon farm in Shandong Province, which was eventually identified as pigeon adenovirus type 1. In this study, a strain of PiAdV-1 was isolated from naturally infected pigeons and named pigeon-adenovirus-1-isolate-CH-SD-2023, and the hexon gene sequence as amplified and analyzed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

The LIM-domain-only protein LMO2 and its binding partner LDB1 are differentially required for class switch recombination.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

January 2025

Department of Immunology and Microbiology, Key Laboratory of Tropical Disease Control of Ministry of Education, Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, Guangdong 510000, China.

The LIM-domain-only protein LMO2 interacts with LDB1 in context-dependent multiprotein complexes and plays key roles in erythropoiesis and T cell leukemogenesis, but whether they have any roles in B cells is unclear. Through a CRISPR/Cas9-based loss-of-function screening, we identified LMO2 and LDB1 as factors for class switch recombination (CSR) in murine B cells. LMO2 contributes to CSR at least in part by promoting end joining of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) and inhibiting end resection.

By addressing patients' physical, psychological, social, cultural, and environmental comfort needs holistically, Kolcaba's Comfort Theory raises the standard of care and increases patient satisfaction. This study explored the combined application of these nursing models during the perioperative period for patients undergoing nasal deformity correction surgery. 92 patients undergoing nasal deformity correction at the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University were randomly divided into two groups: the conventional group (46 patients), which received standard perioperative nursing care, and the experimental group (46 patients), which received concept map thinking nursing combined with Kolcaba's comfort nursing intervention during the perioperative period.

Colorectal cancer in Lynch syndrome families: consequences of gene germline mutations and the gut microbiota.

Orphanet J Rare Dis

January 2025

Senior Department of Gastroenterology, The First Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing, 100853, China.

Background: Lynch syndrome (LS)-associated colorectal cancer (CRC) always ascribes to pathogenic germline mutations in mismatch repair (MMR) genes. However, the penetrance of CRC varies among those with the same MMR gene mutation. Thus, we hypothesized that the gut microbiota is also involved in CRC development in LS families.
