The effects of surface adsorption on the thermal stability of proteins.

The effect of surface adsorption on the structure and stability of proteins is a matter of increasing interest in biotechnology. Therefore, we have examined the effect of adsorption to silica on the thermal stability of 7 proteins employing differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and front surface fluorescence (FSF) spectroscopy. In general, it was found that surface adsorption decreased the thermal stability of the bound protein. Using lysozyme for further studies, DSC, FSF, and FTIR spectroscopies, as well as enzymatic activity measurements, were used to explore the effect of decreasing surface apolarity on stability. It was observed that increasing surface apolarity produced decreasing stability and increasing structural alteration of the adsorbed protein.

The sustainable material, biochar (BC) from a hardwood source, was synthesized via pyrolysis process at 400 °C (BC400) and 700 °C (BC700) and used as a modifier during the electrochemical sensor design. The prepared BCs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, and elemental analysis (CHNS). The development of rapid analytical techniques for detecting pesticides employing a low-cost carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with BC is a novel strategy to provide a sensitive response to water pollution.

In the current investigation, the efficiency inhibition of two newly synthesized bi-pyrazole derivatives, namely 2,3-bis[(bis((1 H-pyrazol-1-yl) methyl) amino)] pyridine (Tetra-Pz-Ortho) and 1,4-bis[(bis((1 H-pyrazol-1-yl) methyl) amino)] benzene (Tetra-Pz-Para) for corrosion of carbon steel (C&S) in 1 M HCl medium was evaluated. A Comparative study of inhibitor effect of Tetra-Pz-Ortho and Tetra-Pz-Para was conducted first using weight loss method and EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) and PDP (Potentiodynamic Polarisation) techniques. In this study, the interaction of waste snake skin (Periostracum serpentis), a keratin-based biowaste composite material, with uranyl ions, the predominant form of uranium in aqueous solutions, was investigated to determine whether it could be used as an adsorbent. SEM, FTIR, BET and EDX analyses were performed to elucidate the material's surface and structural properties. The effects of the amount of adsorbent, uranyl ion concentration, pH, temperature, and adsorption time were investigated to optimize uranium removal with this material.

Immobilizing the target protein on a solid surface with controlled orientation, high specificity, and maintained activity is a proven strategy to enhance the stability of the protein. In this study, we employed an ultra-high affinity protein pair consisting of a mutant of colicin E7 Dnase and its corresponding inhibitor, immunity protein 7(Im7), to develop an immobilized α-adrenoceptor (α-AR) column. Nanoporous organic polymers (NOPs) have emerged as promising candidates; however, their development is often hindered by high synthesis temperatures, complex precursors, and limited SO selectivity. Herein, we report a room-temperature, cost-effective synthesis of carbazole-based nanoporous organic polymers (CNOPs) using 1,3,5-trioxane and paraldehyde, offering a significant advancement over traditional Friedel-Crafts alkylation methods.
