We present a novel GPU-based algorithm for high-quality rendering of bivariate spline surfaces. An essential difference to the known methods for rendering graph surfaces is that we use quartic smooth splines on triangulations rather than triangular meshes. Our rendering approach is direct in the sense that since we do not use an intermediate tessellation but rather compute ray-surface intersections (by solving quartic equations numerically) as well as surface normals (by using Bernstein-Bézier techniques) for Phong illumination on the GPU. Inaccurate shading and artifacts appearing for triangular tesselated surfaces are completely avoided. Level of detail is automatic since all computations are done on a per fragment basis. We compare three different (quasi-) interpolating schemes for uniformly sampled gridded data, which differ in the smoothness and the approximation properties of the splines. The results show that our hardware based renderer leads to visualizations (including texturing, multiple light sources, environment mapping, etc.) of highest quality.

In image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), four-dimensional cone-beam computed tomography (4D-CBCT) is critical for assessing tumor motion during a patients breathing cycle prior to beam delivery. However, generating 4D-CBCT images with sufficient quality requires significantly more projection images than a standard 3D-CBCT scan, leading to extended scanning times and increased imaging dose to the patient. To address these limitations, there is a strong demand for methods capable of reconstructing high-quality 4D-CBCT images from a 1-minute 3D-CBCT acquisition.

The advancement of neural radiance fields (NeRFs) has facilitated the high-quality 3D reconstruction of complex scenes. However, for most NeRFs, reconstructing 3D tissues from endoscopy images poses significant challenges due to the occlusion of soft tissue regions by invalid pixels, deformations in soft tissue, and poor image quality, which severely limits their application in endoscopic scenarios. To address the above issues, we propose a novel framework to reconstruct high-fidelity soft tissue scenes from low-quality endoscopic images.

Animal density is a grazing management decision implemented by managers that may reduce animal diet quality. Over three years, we collected herd-level cattle samples with varying animal numbers and densities across C grass-legume meadows near Powell, WY, USA. Paddocks ranged in size from 3 to 72 ha, cattle groups ranged from 80 to 370 animals, animal units (AUs; defined as heifers = 0.

Bivalve mollusks are globally distributed in marine and freshwater habitats. While exhibiting a relatively uniform bodyplan that is characterized by their eponymous bivalved shell that houses the soft-bodied animal, many lineages have acquired unique morphological, physiological, and molecular innovations that account for their high adaptability to the various properties of aquatic environments such as salinity, flow conditions, or substrate composition. This renders them ideal candidates for studies into the evolutionary trajectories that have resulted in their diversity, but also makes them important players for research concerned with climate change-induced warming and acidification of aquatic habitats.

Multiple channels are designed for dimmable LED light sources with color temperatures ranging from 2,700 to 6,500 K. However, issues such as Delta uv (D) values <0, lower brightness, luminous efficacy, and color rendering index (CRI), lower power density, exceeding the standard deviation of color matching (SDCM), unconstant power, poor color consistencies, and high costs persist. We present a three-channel LED light source featuring an integrated chip-on-board (COB) package structure.
