A surface acoustic wave synchronous multimode resonator with gold electrodes on ST-cut quartz was designed, fabricated, and measured. At a frequency of about 194.3 MHz, an insertion loss of about 14 dB, and loaded and unloaded quality factors of 11,500 and 14,500, respectively, were obtained.

Hydrogel-based soft machines are promising in diverse applications, such as biomedical electronics and soft robotics. However, current fabrication techniques generally struggle to construct multimaterial three-dimensional hydrogel architectures for soft machines and robots, owing to the inherent hydrogel softness from the low-density polymer network nature. Herein, we present a multimaterial cryogenic printing (MCP) technique that can fabricate sophisticated soft hydrogel machines with accurate yet complex architectures and robust multimaterial interfaces.

This paper focuses on a four-capacitor flexible sensor composed of two electrode materials; also, the decoupling method and sensing performance for multimodal sensing of spatial forces and dynamic humidity are described. In previous work, decoupling of multimode sensors is mostly done by monitoring the types of signals, numerical differences of the same signal, and stacking multiple parameter-sensitive materials. This paper mainly uses the different characteristics of the two electrode materials; in the simulation and experiment of humidity, the moisture-sensitive electrode quickly wets from the outside to the inside and expands, and the contact angle quickly decreases from 58.

A proper choice of the device parameters enables to split the input beam into a combination of different guided modes of the multimode waveguide, minimizing radiation and reflection losses that amount to ∼ 0.4 dB in our experiments.

Active matters, characterized by multi-mode motions, have been emerging for both engineering and biological applications. Generally, active objects rely on the symmetry-broken structures, compositions, or interfacial activities through a physical or chemical approach. Here, we report an active bubble spontaneously hovering with a horizontal oscillation at the solid/liquid interface by impacting a stationary laser beam into a liquid through a transparent solid cover.

In this paper, a selective input/output strategy is proposed for improving the life of photovoltaic energy storage (PV-storage) virtual synchronous generator (VSG) caused by random load interference, which can sharply reduce costs of storage device. The strategy consists of two operating modes and a power coordination control method for the VSGs. Firstly, a selective VSG input strategy is proposed based on the magnitude of disturbances, a method of offline solving model equation is used for determine the VSG input time.
