Unlabelled: Acute malnutrition or emaciation in childhood is defined by a low ratio weight/height. In Benin, 8% of the children are concerned. In the north of Benin, the situation is alarming. The aim of this survey is to specify: (1) the characteristics of infantile malnutrition in rural area in the north of Benin and (2) the management of the malnourished children.
Subjects And Methods: A descriptive survey was conducted in a paediatric dispensary. Anthropometric data of children from 0 to 60 months were collected. The children with severe malnutrition were admitted to a nutritional rehabilitation centre. The methods were those recommended by the World Health Organization and were adapted to the local resources.
Results: The anthropometric data of 239 children were analyzed. The prevalence of emaciation was 33%. Thirty-eight children were admitted to the centre. Twenty-nine of the children recovered.
Discussion: This survey confirms the precarious situation in the north of Benin, which may be explained by socio-economic and climatic factors. It can be prevented partly by better food availability, but also by an education on mothers. The strategies must be updated according to their effectiveness in terms of public health and their local acceptability.
Conclusion: The prevalence of malnutrition in Fo-Bouré is beyond the value used by WHO to define the zones where the nutritional situation requires nutritional rehabilitation centres.

Modern treatment, a healthy diet, and physical activity routines lower the risk factors for metabolic syndrome; however, this condition is associated with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality worldwide. This investigation involved a randomized controlled trial, double-blind, parallel study. Fifty-eight participants with risk factors of metabolic syndrome according to the inclusion criteria were randomized into two groups and given probiotics (Lacticaseibacillus paracasei MSMC39-1 and Bifidobacterium animalis TA-1) (n = 31) or a placebo (n = 27).

Metabolic indices significantly impact cardiovascular health. Research on the influence of metabolic indices on resting pulse rate in younger adults is needed. Utilizing the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (Add Health) Wave 5 Public-use biological data, we performed a multiple linear regression analysis to determine the predictive factors of resting pulse rate in adults aged 32-42 years.

Background: Early identification of developmental delay in children can help in making early intervention for its management. Routine developmental screening is not being practised in India due to lack of trained field workers, lack of awareness among parents and lack of feasible assessment screening tool. There is lack of studies that focuses on home environment provided to the children as it is associated with developmental delay.

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a major burden on public health worldwide. To reduce adverse events and complications, effective T2DM self-management is required. Self-management and glycaemic control are generally poorer in lower educated people compared with higher educated people.

Background: The impact of direct and indirect drivers on linear growth and wasting in young children is of public health interest. While the contributions of poverty, maternal education, empowerment and birth weight to early childhood growth are well recognized, the contribution of environmental factors like heat, precipitation, agriculture outputs and food security in comparable datasets is less well established.
Objectives: To investigate the association of length-for-age z-score (LAZ) and weight-for-length z-score (WLZ) with various indicators among children under 2 years of age in Pakistan using representative household level nutrition surveys and ecological datasets.
