We report on a compact double-stage ytterbium-doped-fiber chirped-pulse amplifier system delivering high temporal quality 270 fs pulses of 100 microJ energy at a repetition rate of 300 kHz resulting in a peak power of 340 MW. The recompression down to 1.1 times the Fourier limit is based on the exploitation of nonlinear phase shifts associated with mismatched stretcher-compressor units. A 1-m-long ytterbium-doped 80 mum core diameter photonic crystal fiber is implemented as the power amplifier and allows the production of 143 microJ pulses before compression with an accumulated B integral of 17 rad throughout the amplification stages.

This paper demonstrates a single polarisation, 1.06 microm Yb-doped fiber MOPA, delivering 21 ps pulses in a diffraction limited beam at repetition rates of up to 908 MHz and average output power of 100 W. The maximum pulse energy was 1.

We present a diode-pumped regenerative amplifier based on an Yb:CaF(2) crystal optimized to produce short pulses for various repetition rates ranging from 100 Hz to 10 kHz. The shortest pulse duration generated is 178 fs, and the corresponding energy is 1.4 mJ before compression (620 microJ after), at a repetition rate of 500 Hz for 16 W of pump power.

We present an amplification medium for optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification that allows for ultrabroadband gain in a collinear configuration. Our approach is based on aperiodic quasi-phase-matching (QPM). For the first demonstration of this method in a mid-IR optical parametric chirped-pulse amplifier, we chose a QPM grating design with a linear chirp of its associated spatial frequencies.

First order distributed feedback optofluidic dye lasers embedded in a 350 microm thick TOPAS((R)) foil are demonstrated. They are designed in order to give high output pulse energies. Microfluidic channels and first order distributed feedback gratings are fabricated in parallel by thermal nanoimprint into a 100 microm foil.

We demonstrate the collinear generation of few-femtosecond ultraviolet and attosecond extreme ultraviolet pulses via a combination of third-harmonic and high harmonic generation in noble gases. The ultrashort coherent light bursts are produced by focusing a sub-1.5-cycle near-infrared/visible laser pulse in two subsequent quasi-static noble gas targets.
