Background: The aim of this prospective, controlled study was to assess the 5-year follow-up of Laparoscopic Heller-Dor (LHD) in patients with esophago-gastric junction outflow obstruction (EGJOO), compared with achalasia patients (ACH). The management of EGJOO reflects the experience gained with esophageal achalasia, for which LHD has been proven to be an effective long-term treatment. Prospective long-term results of LHD in EGJOO patients are still lacking.

Pseudoachalasia is a disorder in which symptoms, radiologic, endoscopic, and manometric results resemble idiopathic achalasia. Background: Megaoesophagus (ME), a disorder of the oesophagus characterized by diffuse oesophageal dilation and decreased peristalsis that may be congenital or acquired. Knowledge regarding the aetiology and prognosis for canine acquired ME is currently limited with most cases being idiopathic, which is a considerable problem to implement an appropriate treatment and a potential better prognosis.

Case Presentation: A 7-year-old, neutered, female Spanish Water Dog was evaluated for progressive weight loss, chronic vomiting and regurgitation.

Background And Aim: Achalasia cardia, a primary motility disorder of the esophagus, poses significant malnutrition risks. This study aims at comprehensively assessing the nutritional status in untreated achalasia patients, contrasting it with functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) cases and impact of per-oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) on nutrition at one-year.

Methods: We conducted a prospective study, including consecutive achalasia cases, from December 2021 to April 2022 at a tertiary care centre.

Per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) has emerged as a preferred approach for the treatment of idiopathic achalasia and various esophageal motility disorders, offering a minimally invasive alternative to traditional laparoscopic Heller's myotomy. Over the past decade, POEM has solidified its status as the primary therapeutic choice in these conditions through constant improvements. Its evolution has been marked by continuous progress, driven by the integration of innovative technologies and sophisticated techniques.
