The remodeling types of left ventricle (LV), types and periodicity of heart arrhythmias have been studied in patients with arterial hypertension (AH) associated with thyroid pathology (mainly autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT)), residing in the Far North. It is shown, that in patients with AH associated with thyroid pathology, residing in Far North, defects of LV geometry, adverse in prognostic plan, are revealed significantly more often. The functional conditions of thyroid gland influences on distribution of LV geometry types (concentric LV hypertrophy is registered significantly more often at hypothyroidism). Predominant type of heart arrhythmias in patient with AH and AIT is superventricular extrasistoly (SVE). At presence of thyroid dysfunctions SVE number grows in 1.2 times.

Evidence regarding the relationship between free triiodothyronine (FT3) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the association between FT3 and LDL-C levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who exhibit normal thyroid function. Between June 2022 and October 2023, a total of 3011 inpatients with T2DM and euthyroid status were continuously and non-selectively recruited from a Chinese hospital.

Treatment of Hyperthyroidism in Graves' Disease Complicated by Thyroid Eye Disease.

J Clin Endocrinol Metab

January 2025

Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and Department of Internal Medicine, University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, MI 48105  USA.

Thyroid eye disease (TED) is the most consequential extrathyroidal manifestation or complication of Graves' disease (GD). Treatment of hyperthyroidism in GD complicated by TED is challenging. Antithyroid drugs (ATDs) and thyroidectomy do not change the natural course of TED, while radioactive iodine (RAI) is associated with a small but well-documented risk of TED de novo occurrence or its progression/worsening.

NHC Key Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Molecular Nuclear Medicine, Jiangsu Institute of Nuclear Medicine, Wuxi, China.

Previous studies suggested a relationship between obesity and a high risk of thyroid cancer. However, the association between high body mass index (BMI) and the aggressiveness of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is controversial. In this study, we aimed to investigate the impact of excess BMI on histopathologic aggressiveness of PTC in a Chinese population.

Purpose: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play crucial regulatory roles in the tumorigenesis and progression of various cancers. However, the functional roles of lncRNAs in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the functional role of the lncRNA FAM111A-DT in PTC progression and the underlying mechanisms.

Vitiligo is a depigmenting disorder characterized by melanocyte loss, which results in pigment dilution of the skin. Vitiligo is commonly associated with thyroid disorders and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) is a sensitive marker to detect thyroid disorders. S100B is damage associated molecular pattern (DAMP) molecule released when there is melanocyte damage.
