In this study, we utilized reliability generalization procedures to examine internal consistency estimates across 3 scales measuring the belief in a just world. The distribution of reliability estimates for the measures suggest low to moderate ranges of internal consistency reliability coefficients. The Global Belief in a Just World Scale (Lipkus, 1991) produced the highest average reliability score (alpha = .81) compared to the Just World Scale (Rubin & Peplau, 1973; alpha = .64) and the Just World Scale Revised (Rubin & Peplau, 1975; alpha = .68).

The surgical risk is higher for obese patients undergoing laparoscopic left hemicolectomy. To enhance the surgical safety and efficacy for obese patients, we have innovatively integrated the advantages of various surgical approaches to modify a pancreas-guided C-shaped surgical procedure. The safety and quality were assessed through a retrospective analysis.

The production of biodegradable and biobased polymers is one way to overcome the present plastic pollution while using cheap and abundant feedstocks. Polyhydroxyalkanoates are a promising class of biopolymers that can be produced by various microorganisms. Within the production process, batch-to-batch variation occurs due to changing feedstock composition when using waste streams, slightly different starting conditions, or biological variance of the microorganisms.

Background: A recent prospective phase II study (ECOG-ACRIN E2211) demonstrated that MGMT deficiency was associated with a significant response to capecitabine and temozolomide (CAPTEM) in pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs); however, routine MGMT analysis in NENs was not recommended. Our study sought to demonstrate whether loss of MGMT protein expression is associated with improved overall survival (OS) in patients receiving CAPTEM for NENs from various tumor sites.

Materials And Methods: Paraffin-embedded tumor samples were evaluated by immunohistochemistry (IHC) using an MGMT monoclonal antibody.

Reducing Structural Nonidentifiabilities in Upstream Bioprocess Models Using Profile-Likelihood.

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co.KG, Biopharmaceuticals Germany, Biberach an der Riß, Germany.

Process models are increasingly used to support upstream process development in the biopharmaceutical industry for process optimization, scale-up and to reduce experimental effort. Parametric unstructured models based on biological mechanisms are highly promising, since they do not require large amounts of data. The critical part in the application is the certainty of the parameter estimates, since uncertainty of the parameter estimates propagates to model predictions and can increase the risk associated with those predictions.

Background: The existing criteria for living kidney donors (LKDs)in Japan are controversial. We evaluated the roles of computed tomography volumetry (CTV) and 99 m Tc-diethylenetriamine penta-acetic acid (DTPA) scintigraphy in assessing preoperative and postoperative renal function and predicting early recovery of residual renal function.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical charts of 175 consecutive LKDs who underwent donor nephrectomy (DN) at our institution between 2006 and 2022.
