Objective: to study the features of cognitive disorders in the remote period following exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) in the elderly participants of the liquidation of the consequences of the Chornobyl NPP accident (Chornobyl clean-up workers) with chronic cerebrovascular disorders.

Materials And Methods: The retrospective and prospective cohort study with the external and internal controlgroups. The randomized sample of the male elderly participants (attained age more than 60 years old) in liquidationof the consequences of the accident (Chornobyl clean-up workers, liquidators) at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant(ChNPP) in 1986-1987 (main group, n = 52) recruited from the Clinico-epidemiological registry (CER) of StateInstitution «National Research Center for Radiation Medicine, Hematology and Oncology of The National Academyof Medical Sciences of Ukraine» (NRCRMHO) with verified chronic cerebrovascular disorders (CVD) was examined.

Department of Rural Clinical Sciences, La Trobe Rural Health School, La Trobe University, Bendigo, VIC, 3550, Australia.

The use of bacteriophages for therapy has increased over the last decade. While there is need for clear regulatory pathways for bacteriophage approval for mainstream use in clinical practice, practitioners and patients have been able to access bacteriophage therapy under compassionate grounds and through magistral preparations. However, there is currently no standard for purifying these bacteriophages to ensure safety, and good manufacturing practice certification may not be achieved in these emergency uses.

Brine mining can represent a valuable non-conventional resource for the extraction of Mg, Li, B, Sr and other Trace Elements (TEs) such as Rb, Cs, whose recoveries require chemical reagents such as alkaline and acidic solutions. In a circular strategy, these required chemicals can be produced in-situ through Electrodialysis with Bipolar Membranes (EDBM). In this work, a laboratory EDBM unit was operated using real brines from Trapani saltworks to investigate, for the first time, the migration of minor and trace ions, as Li, B, Sr, Cs and Rb through ion-exchange membranes (IEMs).

Article Synopsis
  • - A new type of redox-active arylazoformamide (AAF) ligands has been developed and used in palladium(II) precatalysts to enhance the efficiency of the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction.
  • - The study found that using a 1.0 mol % (AAF)PdCl precatalyst with cesium carbonate in 1,4-dioxane at 90 °C for 24 hours resulted in excellent conversions to biphenyl products across numerous examples.
  • - In comparisons with other palladium and nickel complexes, the (AAF)PdCl complexes consistently outperformed others, suggesting they provide a novel and effective approach for redox-active palladium cross-coupling

After the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident, municipal solid waste (MSW) contaminated with radiocesium was generated. In Japan, approximately 80% of MSW by weight has been incinerated. As consequence, radiocesium was retained in incineration residue after the accident.
