Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the internal globus pallidus (GPi) is an established surgical technique for the treatment of movement disorders. The objective of this study was to propose a computational stereotactic model of the electrical distribution around the electrode within the targeted GPi in order to optimize parameter adjustment in clinical practice. The outline of the GPi can be defined precisely by using stereotactic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and from this it is possible to model its three-dimensional structure. The electrode and the distribution of the patient-specific parameters can then be co-registered with the GPi volume. By using this methodology, it is possible to visualize and measure the relationship between the electrical distribution of patient-specific parameters and the morphology of the GPi. The model could be applied in clinical practice to help determine the threshold for achieving a therapeutic effect and consequently may aid in optimizing parameter settings for individual patients.

Cancer and its diverse variations pose one of the most significant threats to human health and well-being. One of the most aggressive forms is blood cancer, originating from bone marrow cells and disrupting the production of normal blood cells. The incidence of blood cancer is steadily increasing, driven by both genetic and environmental factors.

Electrokinetic (EK) flow is a type of flow driven or manipulated by electric body forces, influenced by various factors such as electric field intensity, electric field form, frequency, electric permittivity/conductivity, fluid viscosity, etc. The diversity of dimensionless parameters, such as the electric Rayleigh number, complicates the comparison of the EK flow stability. Consequently, comparing the performance and cost of micromixers or reactors based on EK flow is challenging, posing an obstacle to their industrial and engineering applications.

This paper demonstrates real-time, label-free, contact-based glucose sensor design of inset-fed Microstrip Patch Antenna (MSPA) genres: Slotted Microstrip Patch Antenna (SMSPA) and Through-hole Microstrip Patch Antenna (THMSPA). In SMSPA, multiple slots are created along the width edge of the patch. In THMSPA, a through-hole is introduced across the antenna including all the layers: patch, substrate and ground conductor of the MSPA.

Purpose: Pulsed electrical field (PEF) ablation is an energy-based technique used to treat a range of cancers by irreversible electroporation (IRE). Our objective was to use computational and plant-based models to characterize the electric field distribution and ablation zones induced with a commercial 8-needle array-based applicator intended for treatment of skin cancer when high-frequency IRE (H-FIRE) pulses are applied. Electric field characterisation of this device was not previously assessed.

Objective: To explore the effects of veno-venous extra corporeal carbon dioxide removal (V-V ECCOR) on local mechanical power and gas distribution in the lungs of patients with mild to moderate acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) receiving non-invasive ventilation.
Methods: Retrospective research methods were conducted. Sixty patients with mild to moderate ARDS complicated with renal insufficiency who were transferred to the respiratory intensive care unit (RICU) through the 96195 platform critical care transport green channel from January 2018 to January 2020 at the collaborative hospitals of Henan Provincial People's Hospital were enrolled.
