Tetrad analysis helps to determine whether or not two genes are linked by using the four products of meiotic tetrads in Neurospora, yest and Chlamydomonas. This determination, which has been applied in genetic maps of eukaryotes, is critical to understand the mechanisms of heredity. Here, the relationship between ascus types and spore types was analyzed; a logic procedure of ordered tetrad analysis was suggested base on Mendelian laws, mechanisms of genetic recombination and mapping.

G-quadruplex (G4), an important secondary structure of nucleic acids, is polymorphic in structure. G4 monomers can associate with each other to form multimers, which show better application performance than monomers in some aspects. G4 dimers, the simplest and most widespread multimeric structures, are often used as a representative for studying multimers.

Unlabelled: Male sterility is an important trait for breeding and for the seedless fruit production in citrus. We identified one seedling which exhibiting male sterility and seedlessness (named hereafter), from a cross between two fertile parents, with sour orange () as seed parent and Ponkan mandarin () as pollen parent. Analysis using pollen viability staining, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that the mature pollen of the was aborted, displaying collapse and deformity.

Exploring the genes regulating rice fertility is of great value for studying the molecular mechanisms of rice reproductive development and production practices. In this study, we identified a sterile mutant from the mutant library induced by ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS), designated as (). The mutant exhibits no phenotypic differences from the wild-type during the vegetative growth phase but shows complete sterility during the reproductive growth phase.
