A method is presented for measuring interalveolar dimension (IAD) of existing dentures using a caliper. Directions for construction of an IAD gauge are included. This device is easy to construct and "zeroes out" in the closed position. The measurement is useful for determining occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) in new dentures and for monitoring changes over time. Its dimension is entered in the patient record for future reference.

Background and objective Palatal depth is significant as it impacts the intra-arch dimensions in patients with Angle's Class II Division 1 malocclusion. Hence, understanding this relationship is crucial for developing targeted orthodontic treatment plans, to optimize dental alignment and overall facial aesthetics. This study aimed to compare the arch length, intercanine width, intermolar width, and interalveolar width in patients with Class II Division 1 malocclusion with deep palates and those with shallow palates.

Within the pulmonary acini ventilation and blood perfusion are brought together on a huge surface area separated by a very thin blood-gas barrier of tissue components to allow efficient gas exchange. During ventilation pulmonary acini are cyclically subjected to deformations which become manifest in changes of the dimensions of both alveolar and ductal airspaces as well as the interalveolar septa, composed of a dense capillary network and the delicate tissue layer forming the blood-gas barrier. These ventilation-related changes are referred to as micromechanics.

Introduction: Nasal septal deviation (NSD) and concha bullosa (CB) are associated with airway obstruction in mouth breathers. Mouth breathing is associated with alterations in maxillary growth and palatal architecture. The aim of our study was to determine the effect of the presence of CB and NSD on the dimensions of the hard palate using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

The aim of this technique is to provide adequate interocclusal distance (3 mm) allowing preprosthetic management. A bone block was cut with piezosurgery and extracted, leaving the crestal cortical bone intact. The free crestal alveolar bone was fixed to the maxilla with 2 dental implants.
