Bioactivity-guided fractionation has led to the successful isolation of calceolarioside A ( 1) from the methanolic extract of night jasmine leaves. The in vitro antileishmanial activity of compound 1 was determined (IC (50) = 20 microg/mL). Its IN VIVO efficacy was noted at 20 mg/kg body weight when it reduced the hepatic and splenic parasite burden by 79 and 84 %, respectively, in an established model of L. donovani Ag83 infected golden hamster. Furthermore, synergistic potentiations of compound 1 at 20 mg/kg body weight and SAG at 5 mg/kg body weight showed a significant reduction of hepatic and splenic parasite burden. No cytotoxicity was observed against the U937 cell line. This is the first report describing the isolation of compound 1 from N. arbor-tristis L. and the first demonstration of its potent activity against visceral leishmaniasis.

Ricefield eel is an important economic fish in China. However, large-scale intensive breeding has increased the incidence of diseases in eels. In this study, we conducted an 8-week feeding trial to investigate the effects of -glucan on the growth performance, intestinal health, and resistance of ().

The critical effects of bromide in experimental animals are on the thyroid and central nervous system. Changes in thyroid hormone homeostasis could result in neurodevelopmental toxicity, among other adverse effects.

Although 3-nitrooxypropanol (3-NOP; Bovaer10) has been proven to reduce enteric methane (CH) by ∼30% in indoor systems of dairying when the additive is mixed throughout TMR and partial mixed ration (PMR) diets, there has been limited research to date on the CH abatement potential of 3-NOP when mixed within a diet based on perennial ryegrass silage only and fed to pregnant nonlactating dairy cows. To investigate the effect of 3-NOP supplementation on enteric CH emissions of pregnant nonlactating dairy cows, a 6-wk study was undertaken in which treatment cows were supplemented with 3-NOP mixed within grass silage, whereas control cows were offered grass silage without additive supplementation. Enteric CH, hydrogen (H), and carbon dioxide (CO) were measured using a GreenFeed machine.

Contamination of aquatic ecosystems with heavy metals poses a significant global issue due to its hazardous effects and persistent accumulation in living organisms. This study analyzed 51 fish samples from two species of Black Fish, Capoeta saadii and Capoeta trutta, collected from Iran's Khorramroud River during the summer and fall of 2022 to assess heavy metal accumulation in their gill, liver, and muscle tissues. After biometry, the studied tissues of each fish were isolated to measure the concentration of heavy metals (cadmium (Cd), zinc (Zn), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), copper (Cu), and nickel (Ni)).

Purpose: To determine the incidence of therapeutic target attainment using a three-times per week protocol for vancomycin therapy given during the last hour of intermittent hemodialysis (HD).
Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort study was conducted of patient medical records in a remote dialysis center from January 2017 to July 2023. Adult patients with chronic kidney disease stage 5 on ≥3 months of intermittent HD who had received a course of vancomycin therapy with ≥1 serum vancomycin concentration recorded were included.
