We report fine-tuning of nonlinear interactions in a solid-state ring laser gyroscope by vibrating the gain medium along the cavity axis. We demonstrate both experimentally and theoretically that nonlinear interactions vanish for some values of the vibration parameters, leading to quasi-ideal rotation sensing. We eventually point out that our conclusions can be mapped onto other subfields of physics such as ring-shaped superfluid configurations, where nonlinear interactions could be tuned by using Feshbach resonance.

We introduce a novel material for integrated photonics and investigate aluminum gallium nitride (AlGaN) on aluminum nitride (AlN) templates as a platform for developing reconfigurable and on-chip nonlinear optical devices. AlGaN combines compatibility with standard photonic fabrication technologies and high electro-optic modulation capabilities with low loss over a broad spectral range, from UVC to long-wave infrared, making it a viable material for complex photonic applications. In this work, we design and grow AlGaN/AlN heterostructures and integrate several photonic components.

Nonlinear effects play a central role in photonics as they form the foundation for most of the device functionalities such as amplification and quantum state preparation and detection. Typically the nonlinear effects are weak and emerge only at high photon numbers with strong drive. Here we present an experimental study of a Josephson junction -based high-impedance resonator.

Graphene has unique properties paving the way for groundbreaking future applications. Its large optical nonlinearity and ease of integration in devices notably makes it an ideal candidate to become a key component for all-optical switching and frequency conversion applications. In the terahertz (THz) region, various approaches have been independently demonstrated to optimize the nonlinear effects in graphene, addressing a critical limitation arising from the atomically thin interaction length.

This study proposes a switching operating mode that alternates between microbial fuel cell (MFC) and microbial electrolysis cell (MEC) to restore the biofilm activity and organic pollutant degradation capacity in bioelectrochemical systems (BESs) during prolonged operation. After the model switching, the toluene degradation kinetics in BESs equipped with graphite sheet (GS) and polyaniline@carbon nanotubes (PANI@CNTs) bioanodes were elevated by 2.10 and 3.

We demonstrate that fundamental nonlinear localized modes can exist in the Chen-Lee-Liu equation modified by several parity-time (PT) symmetric complex potentials. The explicit formula of analytical solitons is derived from the physically interesting Scarf-II potential, and families of spatial solitons in internal modes are numerically captured under the optical lattice potential. By the spectral analysis of linear stability, we observe that these bright solitons can remain stable across a broad scope of potential parameters, despite the breaking of the corresponding linear PT-symmetric phases.
