We demonstrate that it is possible to combine several small metallic particles in a very compact geometry without loss of their individual modal properties by adding a gold metallic film underneath. This film essentially acts as a "ground plane" which channels the optical field of each particle and decreases the interparticle coupling. The localization of the electric field can then be controlled temporally by illuminating the chain with a chirped pulse. The sign of the chirp controls the excitation sequence of the particles with great flexibility.

Organic afterglow with long-persistent luminescence (LPL) after photoexcitation is highly attractive, but the realization of narrowband afterglow with small full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) is a huge challenge since it is intrinsically contradictory to the triplet- and solid-state emission nature of organic afterglow. Here, narrow-band, long-lived, and full-color organic LPL is realized by isolating multi-resonant thermally activated delayed fluorescent (MR-TADF) fluorophores in a glassy steroid-type host through a facile melt-cooling treatment. Such prepared host becomes capable of exciton dissociation and recombination (EDR) upon photoirradiation for both long-lived fluorescence and phosphorescence; and, the efficient Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) from the host to various MR-TADF emitters leads to high-performance LPL, exhibiting small FWHM of 33 nm, long persistent time over 10 s, and facile color-tuning in a wide range from deep-blue to orange (414-600 nm).

Chiral multi-resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (CP-MR-TADF) materials hold promise for circularly polarized organic light-emitting diodes (CP-OLEDs) and 3D displays. Herein, we present two pairs of tetraborated intrinsically axial CP-MR-TADF materials, R/S-BDBF-BOH and R/S-BDBT-BOH, with conjugation-extended bidibenzo[b,d]furan and bidibenzo[b,d]thiophene as chiral sources, which effectively participate in the distribution of the frontier molecular orbitals. Due to the heavy-atom effect, sulfur atoms are introduced to accelerate the reverse intersystem crossing process and increase the efficiency of molecules.

We propose a low-loss compound structure consisting of a multiplexed rectangular dielectric grating and a waveguide layer, which can function as multi-band optical filters and sensors in TE and TM polarization by utilizing the resonant mode of the waveguide (WG) and the hybrid SP, respectively. Efficient ultraviolet (UV) electroluminescent materials remain a great challenge, since short peak wavelength <400 nm and narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM) <50 nm are simultaneously required. In this sense, multi-resonance (MR) thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters featuring narrow-band emissions hold the promise for UV applications. Such emitters remain rarely achieved and would show potential applications in multiplexed bioimaging and high-density information encryption.
