We studied an anomaly in fractal dimensions measured from the attractors of dynamical systems driven by stochastically switched inputs. We calculated the dimensions for different switching time lengths in two-dimensional linear dynamical systems, and found that changes in the dimensions due to the switching time length had a singular point when the system matrix had two different real eigenvalues. Using partial dimensions along each eigenvector, we explicitly derived a generalized dimension D(q) and a multifractal spectrum f(alpha) to explain this anomalous property. The results from numerical calculations agreed well with those from analytical equations. We found that this anomaly is caused by linear independence, inhomogeneity of eigenvalues, and overlapping conditions. The mechanism for the anomaly could be identified for various inhomogeneous systems including nonlinear ones, and this reminded us of anomalies in some physical values observed in critical phenomena.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is characterized by difficulties in social interaction, communication challenges, and repetitive behaviors. Despite extensive research, the molecular mechanisms underlying these neurodevelopmental abnormalities remain elusive. We integrated microscale brain gene expression data with macroscale MRI data from 1829 participants, including individuals with ASD and typically developing controls, from the autism brain imaging data exchange I and II.

Diffusion in composite media with high contrasts between diffusion coefficients in fractal sets of inclusions and in their embedding matrices is modeled by lattice random walks (RWs) with probabilities p<1 of hops from fractal sites and 1 from matrix sites. Superdiffusion is predicted in time intervals that depend on p and with diffusion exponents that depend on the dimensions of matrix (E) and fractal (D_{F}) as ν=1/(2+D_{F}-E). This contrasts with the nonuniversal subdiffusion of RWs confined to fractal media.

Detection of abnormal situations in mobile systems not only provides predictions about risky situations but also has the potential to increase energy efficiency. In this study, two real-world drives of a battery electric vehicle and unsupervised hybrid anomaly detection approaches were developed. The anomaly detection performances of hybrid models created with the combination of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM)-Autoencoder, the Local Outlier Factor (LOF), and the Mahalanobis distance were evaluated with the silhouette score, Davies-Bouldin index, and Calinski-Harabasz index, and the potential energy recovery rates were also determined.

Background: It is still unclear whether the trabecular structure of the jaw is different in individuals with hypodontia than in those without hypodontia; this is important for clinicians. The aim was to determine whether the mandibular trabecular bone structure of children and adolescents with hypodontia differs from the control group by using the fractal analysis (FA) method in this study.
Methods: A total of 138 panoramic radiographs of 69 cases and 69 control subjects (mean age 13.
