Purpose: Imaging biomarkers bear great promise for improving the diagnosis and prognosis of cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease (PD). We compared the ability of three commonly used neuroimaging modalities to detect cortical changes in PD patients with mild cognitive impairment (PD-MCI) and dementia (PDD).
Methods: 53 cognitively normal PD patients (PD-CN), 32 PD-MCI, and 35 PDD underwent concurrent structural MRI (sMRI), diffusion-weighted MRI (dMRI), and [F]FDG PET.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality in the US. Studies suggest a role for environmental exposures in the etiology of cardiovascular disease, including exposure to arsenic through drinking water. Arsenic exposure during pregnancy has been shown to have effects on offspring, but few studies have examined impacts on maternal cardiovascular health.

Grazing by large mammalian herbivores influences ecosystem structure and functions through its impacts on vegetation and soil, as well as by the influence on other animals such as arthropods. As livestock progressively replace native grazers around the world, it is pertinent to ask whether they have comparable influence over arthropods, or not. We use a replicated landscape-level, long-term grazer-exclusion experiment (14 years) to address how ground-dwelling arthropods respond to such a change in grazing regime where livestock replace native grazers in the cold deserts of the Trans-Himalayan ecosystem of northern India.

Background: Sciatic scoliosis is attributed to non-structural scoliosis resulting from the irritation of spinal nerve roots. Although limited research has addressed the specific characteristics of sciatic scoliotic curve patterns, there is a lack of reported data on the pre- and post-radiographic outcomes of patients with sciatic scoliosis caused by lumbar disc herniation who have undergone full-endoscopic interlaminar discectomy (FEID).

We report on the U-shaped folding of flexible guest molecules of medicinal interest upon their inclusion into macrocyclic cavity of p-sulfonato-calix[4]arene in aqueous media. Alexidine and pentamidine are FDA-approved drug compounds currently rediscovered as potent membrane-targeting antibiotic adjuvants helping restore antibiotic activity against multidrug resistant bacteria pathogens. We have adopted host-guest and crystal engineering approach to study these drugs with a view of potential supramolecular formulations and/or crystal forms.
