Background: The goal of this study was to determine the incidence of dementia before age 65 years in a prospective study of WTC responders, and compare incidence among responders with severe exposures to debris versus responders not exposed to building debris or those who wore personalized protective equipment (PPE).
Methods: Data were collected in a congressionally mandated academic occupation-based medical monitoring program available to all verified WTC-exposed responders residing on Long Island, NY, most of whom are currently <65 years of age. WTC responders aged ≤60 years without dementia at the time of their first cognitive assessment were followed every 18 months on average, for up to five years.

Background: Behaviour support plans (BSPs) for people in residential aged care (RAC) were mandated nationally in 2019 for those who require, or may require, restrictive practices as part of their care. The legislation aims to reduce and potentially eliminate restrictive practices: long-standing problems of their inappropriate use were highlighted by the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety (2018). Many people living with dementia will be impacted: up to 90% experience changed behaviours; 54% of people in RACs have dementia; and approximately 20% experience cognitive decline without a diagnosis.

Campus sexual violence complaints involving students might seem easy to record and report, but university campuses in North America have a culture of secrecy and tend to focus on neoliberal approaches. In this paper, I trace the genealogy of a sexual violence policy from an unnamed university to argue that ruling relations make the current provincially mandated stand-alone sexual violence policies into a performative tool that silences expert knowledges, coordinates institutional practices towards a particular type of sexual violence prevention, and re-inforces a broader neoliberal logic in higher education. I explore my argument in the following three sections: the social organization of the policy and prevention campaign, the rules and regulations of the policy, and the neoliberalism of the current sexual violence discourse.
