Background: Radical cystectomy constitutes the standard therapeutic approach for high-risk urothelial carcinomas of the bladder. Contemporary guidelines advise urologists to discontinue anticoagulation therapy during the perioperative period to mitigate the risk of significant intraoperative or postoperative hemorrhage. Nevertheless, in elderly patients with a history of coronary artery disease, the cessation of anticoagulant medication elevates the risk of acute myocardial infarction, thereby posing a substantial threat to their survival.

For almost two decades, dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) has been considered the cornerstone of pharmacological treatment in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). DAPT composition and duration have considerably evolved in the last decade moving from fixed treatment durations to tailored strategies based on the individual ischemic and bleeding risks. The increasing awareness of the prognostic relevance of bleeding events after PCI and the need for tailoring DAPT according to the individual bleeding and ischemic risks paved the way to newer DAPT modulation strategies by early aspirin withdrawal which have been shown to decrease bleeding without affecting therapeutic efficacy.

Purpose: To investigate the influence of antithrombotic therapy on occurrence of thrombotic and bleeding complications after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).
Methods: In this retrospective single-center cohort study, patients who underwent elective endovascular aneurysm repair for abdominal aortic aneurysm were categorized into three antithrombotic groups: single antiplatelet therapy (SAPT), anticoagulants, or dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT). Outcome measures were the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), prosthetic limb occlusions, and bleeding complications during follow-up.

Background: Little data exists regarding the optimal antithrombotic strategy during S-ICD implantation to prevent pocket hematomas. This study explores the association between perioperative antithrombotic management and the occurrence of pocket hematoma following S-ICD implantation.
Methods: All patients who underwent de novo S-ICD implantation between February 2009 and January 2023 at Amsterdam UMC were included.

Public Health England outlines a national ambition of anticoagulating 90% of eligible patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) by 2029. In 2019/2020, two out of three boroughs reviewed in this study were in the bottom 10% of boroughs compared with others within England. Stroke National Audit data for these three boroughs from 2019 to 2020 identified that in patients with known AF admitted to hospital with strokes, 37% were not anticoagulated.
