We report a case of meningitis by Streptococcus salivarius following spinal anaesthesia for caesarean section. The possible aetiological causes are discussed, and the literature on the disease and the effectiveness of surgical face-masks are reviewed.

Meningoceles are a form of open neural tube defect characterized by cystic dilatation of the meninges containing cerebrospinal fluid without the involvement of neural tissue. Neurosurgical intervention is necessary in the newborn period since survival in advancing ages is often impossible.

Meningitis is the acute or chronic inflammation of the protective membranes, surrounding the brain and spinal cord, and this inflammatory process spreads throughout the subarachnoid space. Hence, it is imperative to develop novel approaches that can overcome these constraints and offer efficient therapy for meningitis.
