Colonic propagating sequences (PS)s are a major determinant of luminal propulsion. A global appreciation of spatiotemporal patterning of PSs requires evaluation of 24 h pan-colonic recordings, a difficult task given that PSs are relatively infrequent events that are not uniformly distributed throughout the colon. Here we developed a means of space-time-pressure 'mapping' in a condensed format, 24 h of colonic recording in such a manner that readily permits an overall view of colonic antegrade and retrograde colonic PSs within a single figure. Such graphical representation readily permits appreciation and identification of aberrant patterns in severe constipation and may be an important clinical and research tool in the assessment of colonic motor disorders.
The peristaltic reflex has been a central concept in gastrointestinal motility; however, evidence was published recently suggesting that post-stimulus responses that follow inhibitory neural responses provide the main propulsive force in colonic motility. This new concept was based on experiments on proximal colon where enteric inhibitory neural inputs are mainly nitrergic. However, the nature of inhibitory neural inputs changes from proximal to distal colon where purinergic inhibitory regulation dominates.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have led to improved outcome in patients with various types of cancer. Due to inhibition of physiological anti-inflammatory mechanisms, patients treated with ICIs may develop autoimmune inflammation of the colon, associated with morbidity, decreased quality of life (QoL), and mortality. In this review, we summarize clinical and pathophysiological aspects of immune-mediated colitis (ImC), highlighting novel treatment options.
Background: () eradication treatment for primary gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma has already been established. However, t (11;18) (q21;q21)/ translocation-positive lesions are a type of primary gastric MALT lymphoma in which a response to eradication treatment is difficult to achieve. In addition, trisomy 18 may be associated with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) transformation of gastric MALT lymphoma.
MiRNAs play an important role in the occurrence and development of human disease. Identifying potential miRNA-disease associations is valuable for disease diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, it is urgent to develop efficient computational methods for predicting potential miRNA-disease associations to reduce the cost and time associated with biological wet experiments.
