Laser flash photolysis has been used for the study of the interaction of 9,10-anthraquinone (AQ) with the DNA base, adenine (A) and its corresponding nucleoside, 2'-deoxyadenosine (dA). This study has provided two very important observations. AQ has been found to support electron transfer in different categories of media, acetonitrile/water on one hand and SDS micelles on other. While in our earlier work 2-methyl 1,4-naphthoquinone was found to undergo a switchover in reactivity (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 126 (2004) 10589-10593). Again A and dA are found to behave differently on account of an extra sugar unit, which not only affects the rate of reaction but the reaction pathway has been found to be modified too.

The widely distributed heat shock protein DnaJ is renowned for its pivotal role in enhancing thermal tolerance in plants; however, its involvement in drought tolerance remains elusive. In this study, genes encoding DnaJ1 were cloned from drought-resistant wild tomato (Solanum pennellii) and drought-sensitive cultivated tomato (Solanum lycopersicum). SpDnaJ1 and SlDnaJ1 from both tomato species were localized in the chloroplast, and their gene expression was induced by various abiotic stresses.

When pollen lands on a receptive stigma, it germinates and extends a tube inside the transmitting tissue of the pistil to deliver the sperm cells for double fertilization. The growth of the pollen tube triggers significant alterations in its gene expression. The extent to which these changes occur in the vegetative cell or extend to the sperm cells transported by the tube is unclear but important to determine since sperm cells are believed to acquire a competency for fertilization during pollen-pistil interactions.

Quercus and Pinus are amongst the most economically and ecologically relevant genera of woody species across northern hemisphere forests. Mixed pine-oak woodlands are also abundant in temperate and Mediterranean regions. The recent shift towards dominance of oaks in detriment of pines, reported in several regions, could be partly driven by differential drought responses between genera and associated with climate change.

Introduction: Despite the recommendations to use a bio-psycho-social framework, many physiotherapists still manage their patients mainly from a biomedical point of view. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of two different e-learning interventions on knowledge, attitudes, and clinical decision-making of physiotherapists managing low back pain (LBP) to increase guideline-consistent care.
Methods: Physiotherapists were allocated (1/1) either to an experimental or a traditional e-learning intervention.

The dynamic interaction between central respiratory chemoreceptors and the respiratory central pattern generator constitutes a critical homeostatic axis for stabilizing breathing rhythm and pattern, yet its circuit-level organization remains poorly characterized. Here, the functional connectivity between two key medullary hubs: the nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS) and the preBötzinger complex (preBötC) are systematically investigated. These findings delineate a medullary network primarily comprising Phox2b-expressing NTS neurons (NTS), GABAergic NTS neurons (NTS), and somatostatin (SST)-expressing preBötC neurons (preBötC).
