Background: Rib fractures are frequently diagnosed and treated in the emergency department (ED). Thoracic trauma has serious morbidity and mortality, particularly in older adults, with complications including pulmonary contusions, hemorrhage, pneumonia, or death. Bedside ED-performed ultrasound-guided anesthesia is gaining in popularity, and early and adequate pain control has shown improved patient outcomes with rare complications.

Background: With advancements in minimally invasive thoracic surgery techniques, such as video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and robotic surgery, the design of vascular staplers has evolved to meet the requirements of these procedures. Consequently, newer generations of automatic staplers with improved handling and reduced size have been introduced, such as two-row staplers, which are more maneuverable and less bulky than their three-row counterparts.
Case Presentation: A 68-year-old man with lung cancer underwent a right middle and lower lobectomy due to tumor invasion into the central middle bronchial trunk, rendering the preservation of the middle lobe impossible.

Purpose Of Review: The rhomboid intercostal and subserratus plane (RISS) block is an effective, safer alternative for managing postoperative acute pain following abdominal surgeries. The RISS block offers several advantages over traditional approaches, including reduced incidence of puncture-related complications, lower rates of systemic opioid consumption, and more consistent analgesic coverage of lower thoracic dermatomes.
Recent Findings: Despite a favorable safety profile, the RISS block carries potential risks, such as pneumothorax and local anesthetic systemic toxicity, particularly when long-acting anesthetics such as bupivacaine or ropivacaine are used.

A 57-year-old man underwent partial resection of the right diaphragm with invasive thymoma dissemination. Fifteen days after surgery, he suddenly developed right-sided chest pain with dyspnea and was raced to the hospital. Chest computed tomography (CT) showed a massive right hemothorax, and emergency surgery was performed due to hemodynamic shock.

Uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery( VATS) is a thoracoscopic surgery in which a camera and multiple forceps are inserted into one wound and the operation is performed under complete monitoring. Since Diego Gonzalez-Rivas reported on lobectomy in 2011, various other procedures such as pneumonectomy, segmentectomy, sleeve, double sleeve, and carina reconstruction have been performed. Now, it is performed not only in Asia and Europe, but also in South America, the Middle East, and other parts of the world.
