The Southern Ocean, a region highly vulnerable to climate change, plays a vital role in regulating global nutrient cycles and atmospheric CO via the biological carbon pump. Diatoms, photosynthetically active plankton with dense opal skeletons, are key to this process as their exoskeletons are thought to enhance the transfer of particulate organic carbon to depth, positioning them as major vectors of carbon storage. Yet conflicting observations obscure the mechanistic link between diatoms, opal and particulate organic carbon fluxes, especially in the twilight zone where greatest flux losses occur.

Cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) is a major prognosis-limiting factor in patients undergoing orthotopic heart transplantation (HT). Due to the diffuse involvement of the coronary tree, CAV lesions are often not amenable to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), leaving coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and retransplantation as primary revascularization options. : The latest guidelines from the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) recognize CABG as a viable option but with a downgraded strength of recommendation.

The dawn and twilight of Old Irish scholarship.

Lang Hist

October 2024

Department of Early Irish, Maynooth University, Ireland.

Even though the publication of Johann Kaspar Zeuss's monumental (Zeuss 1853) marks the beginning of the modern, scientific study of the Old Irish language, short excerpts of the most important textual witnesses of Old Irish, the so-called Old Irish glosses, preserved in 8th-9th-century manuscripts on the European Continent, had appeared in print since the early 18th century. This article gives an overview of these early publications from the 18th and early 19th century by Johann Georg von Eckhart, Domenico Vallarsi, Lodovico Antonio Muratori, and Vittorio Amedeo Peyron, and assesses their role as early trailblazers in the study of Old Irish.

In this paper, we describe the dataset captured with our proprietary data capture solution mounted on top of a Land Rover Defender vehicle. The captured data are the real data of drives on various Slovak roads. The total dataset consist of almost 33 hours of driving with a automotive grade FPD Link camera with 30 fps and with additional sensors such as high-precision GNSS sensor and modem towards mobile data connectivity LTE and 5 G.

Article Synopsis
  • Mesophotic ecosystems, found between 30-150 meters deep, cover a large part of the oceans but have been under-researched due to accessibility challenges.
  • Recent advances in underwater technology and increased interest have led to significant exploration of these ecosystems, particularly tropical and temperate coral reefs.
  • An updated database review identified four main research biases: uneven geographical studies, differences in depth focus, varied research fields, and a scarcity of long-term studies, indicating areas for improvement in future research.
