BCT-Net: semantic-guided breast cancer segmentation on BUS.

Med Biol Eng Comput

January 2025

College of Medicine and Biological Information Engineering, Northeastern University, Shenyang, 110169, China.

Accurately and swiftly segmenting breast tumors is significant for cancer diagnosis and treatment. Ultrasound imaging stands as one of the widely employed methods in clinical practice. However, due to challenges such as low contrast, blurred boundaries, and prevalent shadows in ultrasound images, tumor segmentation remains a daunting task.

Unlabelled: Current guidelines recommend 6-h milk fasting in periprocedural settings; however, recent evidence suggests potential overconservativeness and supports more liberal pediatric fasting protocols. This study assessed the gastric emptying of two different milk quantities in elementary school-age children using gastric ultrasonography. This prospective crossover trial involved 30 healthy children who fasted overnight on two separate occasions within one month, consuming either 5 or 10 mL/kg of milk.

Diagnostic ultrasonography of upper extremity dynamic compressive neuropathies in athletes: A narrative review.

Int Orthop

January 2025

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Division, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Stanford University, Redwood City, CA, USA.

Purpose: This narrative review identifies and summarizes current evidence for diagnostic ultrasonographic evaluation of upper extremity dynamic compressive neuropathies affecting athletes.

Methods: Relevant literature was identified using the PubMed database and then summarized.

Results: The compressive neuropathies affecting athletes we identified included: neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome, pectoralis minor syndrome, quadrilateral space syndrome, suprascapular nerve entrapment, proximal median nerve entrapment or bicipital aponeurosis/lacertus fibrosus (lacertus syndrome), radial tunnel syndrome, and cubital tunnel syndrome.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic performance of Follicle numbers measured on ultrasound (US), conventional magnetic resonance imaging (2D MRI), and three-dimensional (3D) MRI in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and to compare the diagnostic efficacy of these imaging modalities.

Method: In this prospective study, 58 PCOS patients and 60 healthy women underwent US, conventional 2D MRI, and 3D MRI. Clinical laboratory tests and ovarian volume were compared between PCOS and control groups.

Purpose: Shear wave elastography (SWE) provides a means for adding information about the mechanical properties of tissues to a diagnostic ultrasound examination. It is important to understand the physics and methods by which the measurements are made to aid interpretation of the results as they relate to disease processes.

Methods: The components of how ultrasound is used to generate shear waves and make measurements of the induced motion are reviewed.
