The purpose of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial effects of root canal sealers. The direct contact test (DCT) was used to assess the antibacterial properties of AH plus, Apexit Plus, Epiphany SE, and RoekoSeal when in contact with Enterococcus faecalis. The materials were examined immediately after setting and 1, 2, 7, and 14 days after aging in phosphate-buffered-saline. Statistical analysis with two-way analysis of variance, one-way analysis of variance, and Tukey multiple comparison was applied to the data. Apexit Plus had a short-term antibacterial effect of 1 day on E. faecalis, whereas Epiphany SE enhanced bacterial growth for at least 7 days. AH plus and RoekoSeal were ineffective.

Objective: To summarize the latest research progress of graphene and its derivatives (GDs) in bone repair.
Methods: The relevant research literature at home and abroad in recent years was extensively accessed. The properties of GDs in bone repair materials, including mechanical properties, electrical conductivity, and antibacterial properties, were systematically summarized, and the unique advantages of GDs in material preparation, functionalization, and application, as well as the contributions and challenges to bone tissue engineering, were discussed.

Developing efficient adsorbent is imperative for the utilization of uranium resources in seawater. Marine microorganisms and bacteria play an important role in the process of adsorption of uranium. In this work, a completely bio-based antimicrobial aerogel (quaternary cellulose/chitosan aerogel-QCNF/CS) was prepared by cross-linking quaternary cellulose nanofibers (QCNF) and chitosan (CS) via citric acid (CA).

The advancement of active packaging for food conservation has attracted considerable interest over time. In the present study, we aims to create and examine active films composed of chitosan (CS), poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), and syzygium guineense plant extract (SYZ) for potential use in food preservation. We examined the impact of ethanol extracts from the SYZ plant on the films' tensile strength, physical, antibacterial, and anti-oxidant properties.

Hydrogel dressings with good biocompatibility and extracellular matrix mimetic structure are important for the treatment of skin wounds. In this study, antimicrobial silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) loaded with konjac glucomannan and silk fibroin (KGM/SF) composite hydrogel were used as a dressing for wound healing. The uniform distribution of Ag NPs on the surface of the hydrogels imparts excellent antibacterial properties to KGM/SF composite hydrogels.

The development of cellulose fabrics with good flame retardancy and durability has been a primary concern for in firefighting clothing. A recyclable ternary deep eutectic solvent (TDES) was used to prepare surface ammonium phosphate-modified cellulose fabrics (SACF). The incorporation of ammonium phosphate groups notably enhanced the durable flame retardancy of cellulose fabrics.
