Symptomatic carotid disease, characterized by atherosclerotic or non-atherosclerotic internal carotid artery disease with ipsilateral stroke symptoms, represents a critical condition in stroke neurology. This "hot carotid" state carries a high risk of stroke recurrence, with almost one-fourth of the patients experiencing recurrent ischemic events within 2 weeks of initial presentation. The global prevalence of significant carotid stenosis (conventionally defined as ≥50% narrowing) is estimated at around 1.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) and atrial myopathy are recognized contributors to cardiovascular morbidity, particularly ischemic stroke. AF poses an elevated risk of thrombogenesis due to irregular heart rhythm leading to blood stasis and clot formation. Atrial myopathy, marked by structural and functional alterations in the atria, is emerging as a crucial factor influencing thromboembolic events, independently of AF.

Necrotising soft tissue infections (NSTIs) are one of the most challenging and severe forms of infections. The prognosis requires accurate and aggressive diagnosis and management. In this case, we present an unexplained case of concurrence of TE events following BKA for the surgical management of NSTI.

Neurovascular flow-diverting stents (FDSs) are revolutionizing the paradigm for treatment of intracranial aneurysms, but they still face great challenges like post- implantation acute thrombosis and delayed reendothelialization. Surface modification is of crucial relevance in addressing such key issues. In this study, we fabricated an ultrathin nanocoating out of copper (II) together with protocatechuic acid (PCA) and nattokinase (NK) bioactive molecules on NiTi FDSs via a coordination chemistry approach, with favorable biophysiochemical interactions, to fulfill this goal.

Factor XIa (FXIa) is a plasma protease that catalyzes the intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation, thus being regarded as a promising antithrombotic target. Circular DNA aptamers, with their dramatically enhanced biological and structural stability, hold great potential as new-generation DNA-based anticoagulants. However, the functional selection of circular aptamers and large-scale synthesis of them remains a substantial challenge.
