Published: May 2008

Muscles undergoing denervation demonstrate a variety of imaging appearances in the various stages. It is incumbent on the radiologist to be aware of these changes so as not to interpret these muscles as harboring a tumor or being involved by an inflammatory process. Knowledge of cranial nerve anatomy and the muscles they innervate enables identification of denervation patterns that could implicate more than one nerve and directs the search for the causative lesion.

Femoral nerve palsy (FNP) is a rare but serious complication after total hip replacement (THP). Despite its rarity, FNP can significantly impact patient recovery and quality of life. This case report examines the occurrence of FNP in a patient following a primary THP and highlights the importance of surgical technique and postoperative detection and its management.

Purpose: After peripheral nerve injury (PNI), prolonged denervation of the target muscle prevents adequate reinnervation even if the nerve is repaired. The aim of this work is to analyze the effect of intramuscular Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) in a denervated muscle due to PNI.Materials and.

Hirayama disease (HD) is a rare disorder characterized by insidious asymmetric neurogenic atrophy primarily involving the upper extremities. HD most commonly affects adolescent males and has a favorable prognosis for arrest of progression. Electrodiagnostic (EDX) studies show chronic denervation changes in the distal upper extremity muscles.

Sarcopenia is characterized by the progressive loss of muscle mass and strength and can be categorized as either primary or secondary. Patients who have experienced a stroke may develop sarcopenia, which can adversely impact their functional recovery. The pathophysiology of sarcopenia related to stroke involves nutritional deficiency, disuse atrophy, denervation, and metabolic disturbance.

Background: Brachial plexu root avulsion (BPRA) commonly causes extensive motoneuron death, motor axon degeneration and denervation of biceps, leading to devastating motor dysfunction in the upper limb. Edaravone (Eda) has been proven to exert anti-oxidative and neuroprotective effects on various neurological disorders. Herein, we aimed to investigate the efficacy profile and potential mechanisms of Eda on BPRA in vitro and in vivo models.
