Four to eight week prehabilitation programs for smokers and harmful drinkers were included in the national guidelines in 2001. In October 2007 a guarantee for surgery within one month of waiting time came into effect in Denmark. The present Danish patient administration system already contains room for registration of prehabilitation prior to surgery. Using one specific code for prehabilitation at the surgical department and another for prehabilitation at other departments will enable correct registration. Thereby, it is possible to differentiate between ordinary waiting time before surgery and time for prehabilitation.

Purpose: Prehabilitation in patients with bladder cancer recommended for cystectomy has the potential to improve functional status and outcomes after cystectomy. Prior research has shown that increasing exercise preoperatively can improve strength and quality of life, but research has not yet investigated the impact on length of stay, readmissions, complications and mortality.
Methods: We compared historical controls (2021-2022) for patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy at a major academic center to those referred for prehabilitation consultation (2023) on postoperative outcomes, namely hospital length of stay, 30 and 90 day readmission rates, postoperative complications and 90-day mortality.

Aims: Exercise testing remains underused in patients with aortic stenosis (AS), partly due to concerns about an exercise-induced drop in systolic blood pressure (SBP). We aimed to study the SBP response to exercise in patients with severe symptomatic AS prior to surgery and 1 year postoperatively.
Methods: Patients scheduled for aortic valve replacement due to severe symptomatic AS were enrolled at a single centre in a prospective observational cohort study.

Background: Nonweightbearing preoperative assessments avoid quadriceps contraction that tends to affect patellar motion and appear to be inaccurate in quantifying anatomic factors, which can lead to incorrect corrections and postoperative complications.
Questions/purposes: (1) Does the relationship of patellar axial malalignment and other anatomic factors change during weightbearing? (2) What anatomic factor was most strongly correlated with recurrent patellar dislocation during weightbearing?
Methods: This prospective, comparative, observational study recruited participants at our institution between January 2023 and September 2023. During this time, all patients with recurrent patellar dislocations received both weightbearing and nonweightbearing CT scans; control patients who received unilateral CT scans because of injuries or benign tumors received both weightbearing and nonweightbearing CT scans.

Neuropathic pain (NP) is a complex and prevalent chronic pain condition that affects millions of individuals worldwide. Previous studies have shown that prior exercise protects against NP caused by nerve injury. However, the underlying mechanisms of this protective effect remain to be uncovered.

Introduction: Whether the implementation of a multimodal prehabilitation program is effective and safe for high-risk heart or lung transplantation candidates, whose condition prevents hospital discharge, is unclear.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study at a cardiothoracic transplant center in Chile. Two cohorts of hospitalized patients listed for heart or lung transplant were studied: the first underwent traditional (historical) and nonstructured prehabilitation, and the second underwent protocol-driven multimodal prehabilitation (MP).
