Background: Approximately 50% of cases of congenital optic disc pits are associated with serous macular detachment. Long-standing serous detachments (over 1 year) with poor initial presenting acuity are usually associated with cystic degeneration of the macula and loss of pigment from the underlying retinal pigment epithelium, with resultant poor visual outcome.
Methods: A 43-year-old male presented with an optic disc pit and associated serous elevation of the macular region with cystic changes at the fovea.
Results: Over the following 2 years, the patient was aware of an improvement in vision, and acuity improved from 1/60 to 6/18 with resolution of subretinal fluid, as evidenced on optical coherence tomography.
Conclusions: We report an unusual case of an optic disc pit associated with a long-standing serous macular detachment that resolved gradually over a 2.5-year period and, despite very poor presenting visual acuity, demonstrated eventual visual recovery.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a deep-learning model for noninvasive anemia detection, hemoglobin (Hb) level estimation, and identification of anemia-related retinal features using fundus images.
Methods: The dataset included 2265 participants aged 40 years and above from a population-based study in South India. The dataset included ocular and systemic clinical parameters, dilated retinal fundus images, and hematological data such as complete blood counts and Hb concentration levels.

The aim of the study was todescribe the clinical features, optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus autofluorescence (FAF) imaging in patients with choroidal and retinal tumors. Ninety eyes of 89 patients with treatment-naive macular, midperipheral, and juxtapapillary choroidal and retinal tumors were retrospectively included in the study. All patients underwent a complete ophthalmic examination, B-mode ultrasonography, OCT, and FAF imaging.

Purpose: This multicenter study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and factors associated with specific viral pathogens in patients with acute retinal necrosis (ARN).
Methods: A retrospective multicenter cohort study included ARN patients who underwent aqueous or vitreous polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing. Multivariable mixed-effects Poisson regression was used to identify factors associated with viral pathogens.

In the last months, conflicting evidence on a possible association between the use of semaglutide and incident nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) has emerged. A recently published study, which evaluated all patients with type 2 diabetes in Denmark, has shown with robustness that once-weekly semaglutide doubles the five-year risk of NAION. In this comment, the new evidence is discussed, along with practical implications for type 2 diabetes patients.

Paired box 2 ()-related disorder, also known as renal coloboma syndrome, is a variably penetrant autosomal dominant condition, associated with renal and ophthalmological abnormalities. We report a child with -related disorder who presented atypically with acute ataxia on a background of stage 3 chronic kidney disease. Extensive biochemical, radiological and gene agnostic rapid trio exome sequencing was non-diagnostic.
