Nanotopography is known to affect cell response, but the mechanisms are unknown. It is therefore important to be able to produce biomaterial surfaces with controllable nanopore sizes and morphologies from materials that can be used to make templates (scaffolds) for tissue regeneration. A rapid method of fabrication of sol-gel monoliths with controlled nanopore size is described in this paper. Pores of 2 nm in diameter were achieved, termed micropores by IUPAC convention. Conventional sol-gel processing yields pores an order of magnitude larger. Gelling time was also reduced from many hours to a few minutes, without using a gelling agent, and large crack-free monoliths were synthesized within 1 week.

Generally, the traditional stationary phase for liquid chromatography is the key part, but with an in situ immutable property, leading to many separation limitations. Based on the former exploration of photosensitive gas chromatography, we successfully prepared a photosensitive monolithic capillary silica column with high light transmission, taking advantage of the reversible cis-trans isomerism of azobenzene. And the cis-trans isomerism has launched an effective, reversible, and precise control on the liquid chromatographic retention behavior just by photoinduction according to the theoretical basis of a good correlation between photoinduction time, -azobenzene ratio, and chromatographic retention factor () ( > 0.

Background And Purpose: The study explores basil seed mucilage as a bioadhesive carrier for naproxen sodium, demonstrating its ability to enhance solubility when administered rectally. The mucilage, derived from seeds, showed bioadhesive properties and thermal stability, as confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis.
Experimental Approach: Microspheres were prepared using a double emulsion solvent evaporation technique, varying polymer ratios to optimize drug delivery.

Multiple functional tailored materials have shown great potential for both pollutant degradation and freshwater recovery. In this study, we synthesized densely distributed Co onto carbon-layer-coated Ni/AlO hydrangea composites (Ni/AlO@Co) the polymerization of dopamine under a controlled graphitized process. The characterization results revealed that Ni/AlO@Co, with abundant exposed bimetallic Co-Ni species on the surface of AlO, could afford accessible catalytic sites for persulphate activation and subsequent pollutant degradation.

In this paper, we studied the deposition and characterization of monolithic and silver-doped copper coatings using RF magnetron sputtering. The main objective was to examine the impact of different Ag contents on natural and thermally induced aging when compared with monolithic copper coatings. For this purpose, the as-deposited surfaces were left exposed to normal temperature and humidity conditions during one year (natural) and were annealed at 200 °C in a non-controlled atmosphere.
